As technology develops, machines are one of the most useful tools in our daily life.

So, are machines

good or bad?

First of all, more dangerous and difficult tasks can be done by machines such as mining, constructing,
collecting and packaging radioactive waste… Therefore, less accident at work can happen. My mom has a
friend whose job is to cut grass on the farm. One day, the cutter accidentally drops out and cuts his leg.
So if the machine does this job, I believe that this accident cannot happen.

Secondly, machines are very convenient in our daily life. They help people, especially old people do their
chores. Some useful machines are electric cooker, dish washing machines, washing machines, robotic
floor cleaner, … People will have more free time to play with their children, gather with their family and
take care of themselves.

Besides that, machines can improve people’s well-being. For example, air conditioners help people live in
the cold atmosphere, fridge keeps our food fresh, air purifier keeps the atmosphere always clean or
television helps people entertain by watching movie or listening to music. These machines improve the
quality of life, helping people live healthily.

Moreover, with the help of machines, work can be done faster and more accurately. We can make
production in a mass level and the cost of production also is less when compared to manual works.
Nowadays, many developed countries like Japan, USA, Russia… use machines in their company because
machines can work for a long time period without getting tired.

On the other hand, machines also have negative effects. They can cause environmental impact. As
machines use fuel to work, they release carbon or smoke which pollutes the air and water. This directly
affects human health.

In addition, the number of unemployment increase. Since machines are used widely in the world, lots of
people have lost their jobs. In the last year, Vietnam imported the machine normally called VETC. This
machine automatically toll collect money on freeway. So lots of toll collector lost their job.

Lastly, the convenience of machines makes people become lazier. As we can see, more and more tasks
and jobs can be easily done automatically, thus people will depend too much on it and don’t want to do
tasks that they can do.

Everything has two sides and machines also have a positive and negative side. If we use machines
properly, it will have good effects. If we depend on it too much, it will have bad effects on our health and
life. In conclusion, positive effects of this trend outweigh the negative effects if we know how to balance
when using machines.
