If a company wishes to build a large factory near my community, I would support them. I think I would
acquire benefits. There are advantages and disadvantages of having a large factory near my house.

Firstly, Let's talk about the advantages of having a large factory. If a large factory is near my house, my
village would become well-known. Many people, working at the factory, might go through my
community, and might look around it. If the factory is near, the property values, such as house, would
rise. As you know, the apartment is expensive when it is near big buildings. As a factory being built,
more occupations would be more easily made. The factory needs many laborers, so it offers a job to
people, who don't have any, or as a secondary job. In Korea, there is a word 'PIMFY(Please In My
Front Yard)' which means that people, who want to be advantageous, made. This means that people
want a beneficial building to be built near their community. As we can see here, many people want the
factory to be built near their community. This can be the major point of the advantages.
However, there are also disadvantages of having a factory. Multitude of people would drive to the
factory. People, living near factory, would be harmful of a heavy traffic jam. When they are busy, there
is no way to hustle because the large amount of time spent on the road. The increased traffics cause
more air pollution, because the gas from cars is harmful to the air. There are many kinds of pollutions
might occur. The factory wastes causes a water pollution, and the smog causes an air pollution, and
from the considerable amount of garbages they throw away, causes a ground pollution, and so on.
There can be more bad influences. Secondly, the noise from the factory and the construction: machines'
cacophonies. These interrupt people from working or sleeping. People become angry when the noise
disturbs them when they should really concentrate on something. For last, there can be an argument
whether the factory should be built or not. There is a word, 'NIMBY(opposite to PIMFY)' which
describes people who don't want any disadvantages. People from the other place would suggest the
company to move the place to construct the factory near their community. Because of their suggestion,
an argument might occur.
In my point of view, the advantages of having a large factory near my community, outweighs the
disadvantages. In my opinion, having a large factory near my place, would be profitable for me, so I
will support. First and foremost, for the amount of money I'm able to earn from selling my property,
and the benefits I obtain, I can bear for the noise and the heavy traffic jam.
The advantages and disadvantages of building factory near the urban area.

I live in the urban area of a big city. The basic use of urban area is to give a comfortable living place for
citizens. Its quiet, convenient, and have pleasant nature environment for peoples to have a rest. If the
factory is build in the place near the urban area, it certainly have some advantage, but I think the harm
do more than good.
Building factory near the urban area can increasing the economic growth and bring more job
opportunity to local peoples. But the bad effect that the factory would cause is the matter we cant
ignore. First of all, factory would discharge a mass of contaminant and release a lot of harmful gas, the
river will be polluted, soil and air near around the community will become noxious, the peoples health
will under serious threaten. More seriously, there is a big river near our community, this river is one of
the most water resource in our city, it provide more than half of the citys people of drinking water. If
factory build, half the citys people would be affected. Thus, the benefit that the factory bring are too
less not compare with the bad influence it cause.
The community I live in is at the edge of the citys center. There are a lot of people live here because of
the convenient transportation and great environment. If the businessman insist to build factory near our
community, the government would not prove all the people live around here would do their best to
against it.

Factories are an essential part of life. Everyone knows that, and all people accept that. They engine
economies around the world. The more factories can produce, the more goods can be purchased, and
when good that are purchased, more money goes into circulation pushing up employment, living
standards, and general well being. Basically, they are the foundation of capitalism. Yet, however much
an essential part of the economy they are, they provoke a lot of heated feelings and suspicion. No-one,
it seems, wants to live right next door to one, or have one right in the heart of their community. Not
surprising, I wouldnt want one on my door step!
They are dirty! Plain and simple. They increase traffic in any area, due to raw materials and parts
going in and the finished products coming out. Heavy vehicles are noisy, and when there are kids
around, as any residential community has, they are dangerous. They cause a build up of traffic, and
this brings noise. We live with noise enough on a daily basis, we dont need more.
On the one hand, factories can tarnish an otherwise idyllic community, especially one in a quiet suburb
or in the countryside, but on the other they can invigorate a local economy, with jobs. However, most
of the jobs will likely go skilled people coming into the area in pursuit of the employment opportunities
afforded by the factory, so it cannot be taken for granted local people will gain any direct benefit.
Further to employment, arguable though it is that it is beneficial to a local community, it also spawns
parasitic support firms, such as machinery maintenance and cleaning services, parts manufacturers,
raw materials supply depots and so on. A factory, cannot survive without outside supplies and support.
This all contributes to a possible tarnishing of whatever peace the community had prior to a factory
being built, and since these companies likely already exist elsewhere, there is still no guarantee that
local people will benefit from anymore jobs.
This is all a moot point however, since it is highly unlikely that a factory will ever be built in a
residential area, for the very reasons stated above. All town planners know that factories should be
located in areas far from residential housing, and suburban settlements, so as to not destroy the quiet
ideal of any rural or county residential dwelling place. Towns are built around factories, not vice
versa. And that is the way it should be, for woe betides any town planner that thinks otherwise!
TOPIC : A company has announced that it wishes to build a large factory near your community.

Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this new influence on your community.
Do you support or oppose the factory? Explain your position.
Living near a factory or an industrial area is not a good idea. Every resident prefers a cool and pleasant
community. But what if, one day, there is an announcement from a company informs that your
hometown area will have a large factory. This will cause a lot of changes to your place. From my point
of view, I certainly oppose to build such a factory or industrial plant near my home.
Evidently, there are several effects on people who reside in this hometown. In term of disadvantages, it
will widely affect to the environment, such as air pollution, contaminated water and annoying sounds
from the process of production in the factory. Some of the consequences may lead to an illness. For
example, people who live in this area unavoidably take the toxic fumes from the factory every day.
Sooner or later they will have problems with their respiratory system. Moreover, although water is
universally realized that it has various benefits to man, consumption bad-quality water does not provide
any advantage. It might be contaminated by the chemical substances from the industry. Hence, when
people drink it, the adulterated things can get into their bodies. This is the one of causes to have
diarrhea. All these effects will impair the quality of life.
Turning to consider the advantages in case of the rural area, the factory or a plant may give people
more convenient. When their area becomes industrial, it means public utilities are more accessible. For
instance, they will have better transportation. Some area will have more convenient stores. Since the
number of people increase due to the employees from the factory, these alterations are to response the
peoples needs. However, people have to understand in that convenient lives must be exchanged with
their peaceful hometown.
In summary, it seems to have more disadvantages than advantages from building a factory. Surely I am
the one who does not appreciate to have a hometown surrounding with industries. Because I still want
to live in a nice and cozy community and do not want anyone to make any damages on environment.
