Food can be produced much more cheaply today because of improved fertilizers and

better machinery. However, some of the methods used to do this may be dangerous
to human health and may have negative effects on local communities. To what
extent do you agree or disagree?

Food is one of the essential needs of humans in particular and living organisms in
general. Therefore, the demand for food is increasing day by day. To contribute to
meeting the demand for food, nowadays people are gradually improving fertilizers and
using modern machines. However, the use of chemicals and better machinery in
agriculture will bring both advantages and disadvantages to human life.

On the one hand, the use of improved fertilizers and modern machinery to produce cheap
food in agriculture has some noteworthy benefits. Firstly, using chemicals, and modern
machinery, will help shorten the production process and help create products faster. For
example, in the past, when machinery and fertilizers had not been developed, the growing
process would take longer because all production stages had to be done by human effort.
We are not even sure that we will achieve the right production target. But today, as
machines develop, there are more advanced fertilizers and pesticides to be sure to
eliminate pests. As a result, the production process is also faster and more efficient.
Secondly, having more advanced machinery and pesticides will help farmers reduce labor
pressure. Instead, before, farmers had to worry about not having a good harvest, now they
can be somewhat less stressed because almost all production stages involve the
intervention of machines. What's more, it will also help farmers get more profit.

On the other hand, the use of fertilizers and modern machines also exists some
drawbacks. Firstly, if fertilizers and the pesticides are used for a long time, they will
cause soil pollution. Pesticides can help farmers kill pests that destroy crops, but when
used in too large a concentration, they will remain an excess in the soil. In the long run,
that same land source will be extremely polluted, causing negative impacts on farming
and farming activities. Secondly, if more and more advanced machines are used in
agriculture, farmers will lose their jobs. For example, Vietnam is a country with a
developed agricultural industry, so the number of farmers still make up the majority of
the population, but if all production stages are using machines, the farmers will be
unemployed. This also causes the country's economy to decline and reduces the
employment rate in Vietnam.
In conclusion, the use of advanced fertilizers and modern machinery in the industry
brings many advantages but also has some disadvantages. Therefore, we should actively
promote the advantages and overcome the negative side.
