I am very interested in this chapter. especially on the topic of tasks involving listening.
listening is the simplest task but the linguistic challenge can vary according to what you ask
learners to list. listening can usefully be split into two kinds
1. Brainstorming
The first method is brainstorming, this method is very effective for learners who want to
improve their English skills. even for learners who have low self-confidence, using this
method is effective for increasing confidence and English language skills. In practice,
brainstorming is carried out by teachers and students, in pairs or small groups by discussing
a topic and being involved in promoting each other's tasks. This brainstorming method has
been carried out and succeeded in several countries using ideas, one of which is the quality
of a world leader, criteria for choosing a place to stay for a vacation or weekend, strategies
for learning English outside class and several other ideas. In carrying out the activities,
students choose one idea to achieve the task and the teacher gives a time limit.
2. fact-finding
after I read and understand this method is done by involving students to look for facts in
books, the internet or ask directly to the resource person. the learners will find out and
work on the facts obtained and then written in English. when learners are in class, they are
ready with the results of the facts obtained. For example :
- find out facts about the tragedy of the Lapindo Mudflow in Porong, Sidoarjo.
- find out what people think about hybrid learning in Indonesia

Question : Have these two methods been used in Indonesia? if so, did it work?
