Locus of Control: The environment orientation of PET focuses on whether individuals perceive control

over their environment as internal or external. In cultures with an external locus of control, decisions are
often centralized and made by those in authority, while in cultures with an internal locus of control,
individuals are empowered to make decisions independently.

Internal Locus of Control: Individuals with an internal locus of control believe they have control over
their actions and decisions, taking personal responsibility for outcomes and feeling empowered to initiate
change.

External Locus of Control: Conversely, individuals with an external locus of control feel that decisions
are influenced by external factors or authority figures, relying on others to make decisions and feeling less
empowered to effect change independently.

Decision-Making Processes: Understanding the locus of control is crucial for managers in determining
how decisions are made within a cultural context, whether through individual empowerment or
hierarchical structures, and in assessing the degree of autonomy and accountability individuals perceive in
the decision-making process.
