I OKELLO CALVIN UBT250/2022/M/CP/A/430, do here by declared that the industrial
training entitled “ROOFING AND CONSTRUCTION WORK” is my own work which took place
in December -January,2023-2024 respectively and this work has never been produced by
anybody else to any higher institution of learning and training.
Therefore, the work was smartly and standardly performed in order to accomplished the
given period of training.

The industrial training is the most basic acknowledgement of training part of studies that
makes students/me gains a lot experience in the studies field.
I therefore wished to thanks the following people/friends who joins hands with me during
the course of training.

DEFINITIONS OF TERM
CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
The industrial training entitled “ROOFING AND CONSTRUCTION WORK” was
performed at st Richard engineering group company located in okwang town council,
okii “B” Parish, acuugwaa village in district.
In addition to that point, the st Richard engineering group is headed by Mr. Odongo
bonny ocen and for more information call 0776157630
BACKGROUND
The industrial training was performed at st Richard engineering group entitled
“ROOING AND ONSTRUCTION WORK” is one of the course units examined by
Uganda business and technical examination centre under programme called
modularised assessment for students pursuing transcript certificate in Uganda
community polytechnics in block laying and concretes practice - BCP -.
OBJECTIVES
The major objective of the industrial training was to make students be able to
acquire a general skill, experiences and practical knowledge in the following areas in
accordance with the course they are offering for examples’; -
Site serves.
Plan setting and interpretation.
Block laying technique.
Form work.
Roof plan and calculations references
However, the training was based on rooting and construction work, I was in
position to learn and identify the following roofing activity; -
Types of roofs to be constructed in a building.
Different tools and equipment used in roof and construction work.
Type of houses to be constructed.
Different timbers and roofing materials used.
Roofing frame and calculations involves.
JUSTIFICATION
The major justification of the industrial training was to enable me/students to: -
Improved on their skills and practical experience acquired from their
differences respective organization, company or industry in order to suit
productions by technology
Makes them develops general idea and knowledge.
Creates a work layout and techniques procedures.
Improves on their creativity and innovation skills.
Identify the differences of using tool and equipment while at the workshops
Leads by the production of skill learnt in practical aspects
DELIMITATION
The industrial training is one of the most importance course unites studied at technical
education for students/me who are/is pursuing modularised assessment under Uganda
community polytechnical certificate in block laying and concrete practice.
Since the training was a bit lengthy, the following delimitation were encounter/overcome
during the course of my training at st Richard engineering group: -
Presence of willing supervision carried out by Mr Odongo bonny ocen.
High respect and integrity were observed at the field.
Cooperation and team work was performed during working hours.
Availabilities of the essentials workshop facilities like bow saw, hand hacksaw,
hammer, etc.
Free transport for some time when works delays.
Good trainee’s welfare while at work place.
Free workshop lesson offers for trainees under roofing and construction work.
Guiding and cancelling for future careers jobs.
LIMITATION
Every organization, company, groups and industry deserve to face general weaknesses,
problems and workshop challenges and the weaknesses and challenges of st Richard
engineering group that I notice during the course of training with the group were as follows,
Difficult to draw up plans for the frame roof and calculations.
Heavy duty work like lifting up framework of the roof.
In cooperation of some trainee’s and work absenteeism.
In adequate workshop’s tools and equipment during work time.
Abuse and mistreatment given to trainees sometime make them to the fear work.
Shortage of enough food staff good for trainee welfares.
Language barrier, some supervisor can’t speak correct English language.
Poor interpretation of plan by some senior builder/mansions.
Transport problem to and for from the place of work
CHAPTER TWO
INTRODUCTION
The industrial training was examined by Uganda business and technical examination board in
order for student to get accredited with practical skills and knowledge based in technical
education in their various course departments.
In addition to that, the general skills and knowledge must be learned by all students but not
only “ROOFING AND CONSTRUCTION WORK” and therefore, they must be performed by
production as explained in the previous as before.
