To start with, these readings reminded me of my past experiences in Educational Psychology
course,so it was like a renewing experience of existing information.I remembered or re- learned certain strategies that can be used during the lesson as an incentive, like positive and negative reinforcements, and different kinds of learning models that can help teachers in this quest. These theories can help me to come up with a valid interpretation in the class about Instructional Design, allowing me to form a connection between two a lot easier. For example,i can discuss the differences between Piaget’s and Vygotsky’s Cognitive Development and try to find a middlepath using the most effective and rational parts of the both theories. And also, using reinforcements during the class to augment a behavior is a good way of maintaining classroom performance and quality,by having the control without boring the students.I can discuss these techniques in the lesson so that i can come up with ideas about presenting an original and effective teaching method of my own, while applying the theories in class while mixing them with my own teaching principles and strategies,so that i can get the maximum quality during the class. As for the second question,i think i would go with the most appropriate and suitable technique for my teaching strategies. For example,if i wanted to go with a strategy which includes observation and imitation of a role-model,the best way i would do this would be applying the Social Learning Theory.I would use certain behaviors as incentive for the students to show as stimuli,so that i would augment the ratio of the desired behavior.I would use these strategies to be effective in-class use,so that the general performance would be high.Secondly,i would adapt these teaching theories and strategies in a way that would apply and be beneficial for every student in the class,so that it would be fair and most effective for everybody’s sake.If the strategy i use doesn’t apply to everybody, then i would have to use another strategy in classroom so that everybody would get the equal chance to benefit from the classroom environment. For example,if a student is much more introverted and silent compared to his peers, then using Vygotsky’s Cognitive Theory would not be the best possible option to apply in the classroom, simply because that student still wouldn’t benefit from the technique effectively.Even though he would try to adapt it,he wouldn’t do it beneficially. Therefore,it would be most beneficial for me to do a fair and equal system of teaching while applying the most beneficial theories or techniques.I would also use some of the memory techniques during classroom sessions, and yet again,i would choose the best possible option of strategy with considering the age factor and the different characteristics that stdents have,to maintain an equal and effective classroom environment. For example, using acronym system to have to memorize different kinds of memory techniques would be memorable for young students, where as using more abstract methods like Loci method would not be applicable for young students, because students at that age can not think and memorize so abstractly. Therefore,i would use this methods considering the key factors of age, characterization and thinking style.
