• Every substance has its own properties.
• The properties of a substance describe what it is like and what it does.
• Most substances can exist as a solid, liquid or gas.
• These are the three states of matter.

Physical properties are properties that you can observe or
measure without changing a material.
Changes of states don't change the type of the substance - water.
• The change of state from solid to liquid is melting.
• The temperature that a substance melts at is its melting point.
• The change of state from liquid to solid is freezing.
• A substance freezes at or below, its melting point.
• Boil is the change of state from liquid to gas.
• It only happens if the liquid is hot enough.
• The temperature that a substance boils at is its boiling point.
Evaporating or evaporation is the change of state from liquid to
gas that can happen at any temperature.
