Introduction

• Today's NEST is on Using

Educational Technology.
• Michael will be discussing the types
of technology in education.

benefits of technology and the best
way to use it.
• Dylan will finish with
the challenges of technology.
What is Educational
Technology?
• In order to enhance teaching and learning,
educational technology is the subject of
research that looks at the process of
analysing, planning, developing,
implementing, and evaluating the learning
environment, learners, and the learning
process.
• The use of educational technology in the
classroom is crucial because it allows
teachers to engage students in distinctive,
creative, and equal ways.
• Using the chat, can you send in one or
two technological tools teachers can use?
Types of
Technology in
Education

What do you think
the challenges of
using Educational
Technology are?

• Using the chat function on Teams,

Type in what challenges may be
presented in schools when using
Educational Technology?
Some Challenges are:

Digital Divide: Unequal access to technology and internet connectivity among students and schools exacerbates disparities in education.
Students from low-income families or rural areas may lack access to necessary devices or reliable internet connections, hindering their ability to
fully engage with edtech tools and resources.

Training and Support: Educators often require training to effectively integrate edtech into their teaching practices. Lack of adequate professional
development opportunities and ongoing support can lead to resistance or misuse of technology in the classroom. Teachers need continuous
training to stay updated on new tools and techniques and to maximize the potential of educational Tech.

Privacy and Security Concerns: Safeguarding student data and ensuring privacy protection are paramount when using technology in education.
Educational tech platforms collect vast amounts of data on students, including personal information and learning analytics. Without robust
privacy policies and security measures in place, there is a risk of data breaches or misuse, undermining trust in edtech solutions.

Pedagogical Integration: Educational tech should complement and enhance pedagogical practices rather than overshadowing traditional
teaching methods. However, integrating technology into curriculum design and instructional strategies requires thoughtful planning and
alignment with learning objectives. Poorly integrated educational tech may result in superficial engagement or distract from meaningful learning
experiences.
How to
Overcome these
Challenges:
1. Promote Equity and Accessibility

2. Offer Comprehensive Training and Support

3. Manage Costs Effectively

4. Integrate Technology Purposefully into Pedagogy

By addressing these strategies collaboratively

and systematically, educational institutions can
overcome the challenges of educational tech
implementation and harness its transformative
potential to enhance teaching and learning
experiences for all students.
Conclusion
• Educational technology is the use of technology tools to assist student
learning.
• Technology makes learning more enjoyable
• There are many tools and platforms available for teachers to use.
• There are many challenges when using educational technology which
can hinder learning in the classroom.
• With the right training and guidance, we can successfully intergrade
technology into the classroom and use it effectively
