B. Pre-Reading Activity 1: INTRODUCE YOURSELF
The students will introduce themselves to the class using an adjective that starts with
the first letter of their name.

For example: “Hello, everyone! My name is jolly Justin. Nice to meet you!”

Activity 2: TWO CENTS


The students will be asked on what they can say about the quote below.

Activity 3: WORD SEARCH


The students will accomplish a word search puzzle that contains words from the story that
will be read by them later. The students will work on it by pair and they will look for their
own partners.

Activity 4: READ ALOUD


The class will read the words from the word search activity. The teacher will read a word
first and then the students will follow suit and so on. After that, another round of reading
aloud will take place but this time, only the students will read the words by themselves.

Activity 5: UNLOCKING MEANING


The teacher will have a short discussion on the definition of the words from the previous
activities. She will emphasize that these words are present in the story that they will be
reading.

shepherd - a person who tends and rears sheep.


flock - a group of animals (such as birds or sheep) assembled or herded together.
hue and cry - a loud clamor or public outcry.

prank - a practical joke or mischievous act.


amuse - cause (someone) to find something funny; entertain.
ridicule - subject (someone or something) to contemptuous and dismissive language or
behavior.
lecherous - having or showing excessive desire
instance - an example or single occurrence of something.
hillside - the sloping side of a hill.
lie - an intentionally false statement.
grumbling - the action or fact of complaining in a bad-tempered way.
raid - a sudden assault or attack, as upon something to be seized or suppressed
wolf - a wild carnivorous mammal of the dog family, living and hunting in packs.
villager- a person who lives in a village.
dismay - to break down the courage of completely
weeping - the process of shedding tears
lewd - crude and offensive
hearty - (of a person or their behavior) loudly vigorous and cheerful.
residing - to live, have your home, or stay in a place
grazing - to feed on growing grass and pasturage, as do cattle, sheep, etc.
C. During Reading The students will read the story entitled The Boy who Cried Wolf by Aesop in pairs. They
will be provided with handouts.
D. Post Reading Activity 6: CHECK YOUR COMPREHENSION
With their partners, the students answer the following comprehension questions on a
one whole sheet of paper:
1). Who are the characters in the story?
2). Why are the villagers angry with the boy?
3). Why do you think he decided to cry “wolf” when there was no wolf?
4). Why do the villagers not believe the boy the third time he "cries wolf"?
5). How do you think the little shepherd boy felt when no one came to help after the wolf
attacked his flock?
6). Do you think the shepherd boy learned his lesson? What do you think he can do now to
show people he won’t lie anymore?
7). What do you suppose the phrase, "cry wolf" means?

Activity 7: COMIC STRIP


By group, create a comic strip on the important events that transpired in the story The Boy
who Cried Wolf.
