Subject: Implementation of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA)

Respected Madam/Sir,

As you are aware, drug addiction is a major challenge in many Higher Educational Institutions
(HEIs)
with numerous cases of yoingsters getting addicted to substance abuse. The Ministry of Social Justice &
Empowerment (MoSlE), GovJrnment of tndia has implemented the Nasha Mukt BharatAbhiyaan (NMBA)
for drug tlemand reducfion in the country. The program coordinates and monitors all aspects of drug abuse,
p."u.riion, assessment of the extent of ttre pioblim, prevention action, treatment and rehabilitation of
users, dissemination of information and public awareness.

It is evident that the students and youth are particularly wlnerable to the menace of the substance
use, thus making them primary stakeholders for thi Abhiyaan. HEIS can take action at the Institutional
level to sensitiz-e the campui and other possible surrounding locations through their faculty, NSS
volunteers, student clubs et6. through regulai interventions and activities on substance use prevention.

Institutions may create common clubs with various activities relating to ragging, non-use of
substances, following .if"ty -"".u."" etc. A list of suggested activities to spread awareness and

Higher Education Institutions are requested to spread awareness about this program and encourage
the stute"nts and faculty members to take pirt in the activities mentioned in the link mentioned above.
