Pros and cons of being an only child

It is common belief that being an only child is "a disease in itself".
Experts say only children feel good in their own company. There are 2 F, gr. 2
many pros and cons of being an only child.

One of the main advantages is the lack of competition and comparison to

siblings. As a result, these aspects do not affect the child's self-esteem.
As a result, the only child is less likely to feel jealous or rejected.
Second, Carl Pickhardt stated that the only child feels good amongst
themselves, which gives him independence. A child growing up without
siblings is the apple of the eye of the parents. Thanks to this, his needs
are met better, because his parents can devote more time to him.

On the other hand, being an only child has its disadvantages. There is no
doubt that the only child is less capable of criticism and is prone to self-
centeredness, as parents tend to listen to and praise their children, so they
do not suffer from criticism. Moreover, being an only child, it may be
difficult to contact with peers. Siblings teach life, and a single child may
not be adapted to coping incl. in confrontation with peers. Additionally,
a child brought up in this way is usually more mature than his peers. By
adopting the behavior of adults, it can quickly lose its childhood idyll.
Finally, a child brought up without siblings comes under more pressure
as the parent may have exorbitant expectations. For fear of this, they
may stand in the way of the child's independence by trying to influence
his decision.

All in all, this phenomenon has its pros and cons. If you ask me about
being an only child, I firmly believe it is better to have siblings. Growing
up with siblings teaches us behaviors that are difficult to develop on our
own.
