PET bottle Can Glass Carton

Petaloid design Concave design 2 piece can 3 piece can

(Carbonated) (non-carbonated) (Steel, Aluminum) (Steel only)
Plastic Bottle
• Carbonated beverage- Petaloid
Designed to disperse the internal
gas pressure and prevent the bottles
from exploding.

• Non-carbonated beverage - Petaloid shape

concave shape

Trend: :
Moving toward thinner PET bottles for cost reduction
of material and transport and for environmental
footprint. The trend is that the bottles are getting taller
and slimmer vying for more shelf space. The taller
the bottles, the higher the gravity center. And such Concave shape
bottles are more unstable. This is a challenge for the
OEMs who has to secure smooth transfer of the
containers.
Can
2 piece can
• Made thin by punching press
• Lighter and cheaper
• Used more for carbonated drinks
• Internal gas pressure keeps the thin
container stiff enough :2 piece can Right:
Left: :3 piece can
3 piece can (steel can only)

• Same construction with food cans
• Joint line on the side of the body .
• Suitable for tapping inspection due to flat
bottom
• Especially used for beverages require
high safety quality
(ex. Canned dairy drinks)
Glass containers

• Widely used for wine, soft drinks and

supplement drink
• Glass bottle has all it all required for
long-term storage
ex) PET bottles let go gas over time
• Optimal for medical substance as the
glass is not deteriorated by them.
• Steel chains are often used for its
better cut resistance and durability.
ex) Broken glass may damage
plastic chains
• Use of plastic chains is on the rise.
Carton
Carton(Brick pack)
• Widely used for various non-
carbonated drinks such as milk, juice,
and tea.
• Carton packages are usually conveyed
in dry condition.
• So called 'slider', a lubricant soap
water, is not applied on the chain or
belt. (exception: pasteurizer)
• Some of the end users choose ultra
low friction, while many use low friction.
2.Application
De-palletiser
• Pick up containers from pallet and load
onto the conveyor line

Rinser
• Wash and rinse inside the
containers

Chain is used at infeed and

discharge areas

Filler & Capper
• High speed filling and
capping machines

Chain is used at infeed and

out feed areas

C0880L0325LFAA
Tilt bottle sterilizer

• Sterilizes bottle necks area and cap from

inside by inclining the bottles and by heat of
hot content.

Pasteurizer&Cooler
• Sterilize the beverage in
containers
• Raised Rib vs. Flush Grid
• Retrofit from Intralox

• Normally two sections in the

machinery.
(1st section: pasteurizer
2nd section: cooler)

Accumulation table
• Act as a buffer in case of
intermittent work of
downstream machines

• Safety measure;
ex) emptying of bottle Belt : M1220POBL

avoid over heating
Multiple strands of chain
• Convert into a single file line by changing the speed
of chain. Prior to filling and inspection lines

Chain: Name: Mitsubishi - ‘Combiner’

Label shrink tunnel
• Label film shrunk to fit onto the bottle
• Expensive heat resistant chain are used
(Habasit: available as MTO)
• Overall demands are small.
