Once upon a time, there was a maiden named Beth who lived in the northern part of the world,

where it was so cold. Beth really loved her mother and was willing to do anything for her. One
day, Beth’s mother got sick. She called the tribe’s healer in their village to check on her mother.
The healer said, “Your mother has a very serious illness. The only cure for that is the flower
growing on the top of Mount Everest, but no one had ever survived climbing to that mountain; it
is very dangerous there.”Beth said,
“I will do anything just to cure my mother, even if it costs my life.”
Beth started to pack her things. Her mother was very worried seeing her child going to that
mountain, but Beth said, “Don’t worry about me, mother. I can handle myself.”The next day,
Beth started her journey to the mountain. After her long walk, she arrived at the feet of the
mountain. She thought for a while about how she would go to the top of the mountain. A polar
bear saw Beth, covered with snow. The bear thought for a while about Beth’s intention in the
frozen mountain and walked towards her. Beth got frightened, but the bear said, “Don’t be
scared. What are you doing here? It’s freezing cold.”Beth calmed down for a second and said,
“I’m finding a cure for my mother.””What kind of cure are you finding here?” the polar bear
said. “I’m finding the flower that only grows on the top of this mountain,” Beth replied. In the
bear's mind, he was thinking that there is a possibility the flower that Beth needed is the one that
he needs to cure the curse granted to him. He said to Beth, “I would help you to go to the top of
the mountain, but I don’t know the exact location of the flower.”Beth said, “I know where the
flower’s exact location is. I have a map going there.”Beth and the bear started walking to the top
of the mountain. After their long walk, they arrived at the exact location of the flower, and they
saw the one and only flower growing on the top of the mountain. The bear picked up the flower
and said, “Thank you for your help. I needed it so badly.”But Beth got angry and said, “I’m the
one who needed that flower. Give it to me.”And they fought, but because the bear was too strong
and big, she could not get the flower out of the bear’s hand. The bear said, “No, I would never
give it to you. You should go home.”And Beth said, “No, I would not leave this mountain until I
get that flower.”The bear pushed Beth and ran away. Beth started going back to the village with a
sad face. She arrived at their house and felt sorry for her mom because she did not have the
flower. She said to her mom, “I’m sorry, mother. I did not get the cure for your illness,” and Beth
started crying. Her mother said, “It’s okay. Don’t feel sorry. We will find another cure for my
illness. You should take a rest.”The bear, going back to their village, saw that the healer could
cure him. While walking back, he passed Beth’s village, saw Beth crying, sitting alone in one
corner outside their house. The bear realized what trouble he had caused Beth and felt sorry for
her. He wanted to help Beth and give the flower back. He went closer to Beth. Beth got shocked
and angry seeing the bear standing in front of her and said, “What are you doing here after what
you did to me?”The bear said, “I’m here to give the flower. I’m really sorry for what I did. I just
wanted to break the curse that a witch cursed me with because of my arrogant attitude.”Beth
said, “Really? Are you going to help me? What about yourself? You need it also.””It’s fine. You
should think about your mother’s help. You are the one who really found this flower. I just
helped you arrive at the top of the mountain, so this flower really belongs to you,” the bear
replied. The bear gave the flower to Beth, and Beth said, “Thank you for giving back the flower. I
really appreciate your help.”Beth rushed to go to her mother and give the flower. Beth’s mother
got well after she gave the flower. After Beth left, the bear transformed back into human form.
The true cure to the curse was him realizing that being arrogant would result in a bad thing. They
formed a friendship, and both Beth and the bear lived happily ever after.
