Interpret the interview:

1) Include detail about the tone and climate of the setting, your initial impressions of attitudes and feelings of the
client, what attitudes and feelings you brought to the interview, what significant changes in the client occurred
during the interview in terms of appearance, gestures, posture?
I was calling the client’s wife to see if they needed me to come and sit with the patient anytime that week. Mrs. Smith, the client’s wife,
seemed upset and stressed over all of the responsibilities piling on her. By the end of the interview Mrs. Smith seemed to have calmed down
due to being able to vent to someone, although she was upset because she would not be getting a respite visit. I was a little nervous at the
beginning of the interview but hopeful to add more visits to my roster.
2) Analyze why you think your interaction with the client unfolded in the manner it did. What is your assessment of
your client’s reaction(s)? Reflect on the strengths and weaknesses of your intervention and identify an area you
would like to improve upon for your next session.
I think Mrs. Smith needed to vent and let her frustrations out. I also think due to my own biases on COVID, I was scared to be near someone
who may have COVID.
3) Note at least three questions to bring to your next supervision with your field instructor.
What can I do to improve my interviewing skills?
What is a better way to introduce myself to clients and their family?
How would you have handled this situation?
