Introduction of the line from the centre theorem

Grade 11: Euclidean Geometry Worksheet.

You will need the following:

• A compass
• Ruler
• Protractor
• Pencil
• Eraser

Follow these instructions carefully in your workbook:

• Draw a circle.
• Draw two radii and one chord in a way that they form a polygon whose two
vertices lies on the circumference of a circle.
• What type of a polygon is this?
• Construct an altitude of your drawn polygon.
• What can you say about altitude and chord?
• Is there anything you can add?

Let’s try this!!!

➢ Draw another circle.

➢ Draw two radii and one chord in a way that they form a polygon whose two
vertices lies on the circumference of a circle.
➢ Measure the chord of your drawn polygon use 𝑐𝑚 units.
➢ Find the midpoint of the chord and note it with dot.
➢ Draw a line pass through the centre of a circle and midpoint of the chord.
➢ Measure the angle formed by the line that passes through the centre of a
circle and midpoint of the chord at the point of intersection.
➢ Now, make a conjecture about what you have observed in both circles in
relation to the chord and the line that passes through the centre of a circle.
