school week when a particular student was absent. All characters are present in this
scene.

Kate: Is Janine absent again?

Janine: Looks like it, teacher. She’s always absent every Friday.

Kate: *sighs* I have to look into it. It’s a shame to drop her, her grades are excellent.
*scribbles something* does anybody here close to their house? I need to speak with her
mother.
No one replied
Kate: How about her address?
Janine: I think she’s from the Sitio Labrador, you have to cross the river to get there.
Kate: Thanks. Class Dismiss.

Scene 2:
The teacher crossed the river and walk few kilometers before she reached the sitio
where her student resides. The teacher knocks at the door. The mother of Janine
greeted her.

Teacher: Good morning, ma’am. Is this the house of Janine Aguilar?

Dianne: Yes ma’am. I am her mother. May I ask who is asking?
Kate: I’m the teacher of Janine. How are you? I hope I’m not barging at a bad time. May
I speak with you?

The two characters will shake hands and sit to a chair facing each other.

Dianne: No, it's fine. Is everything alright with Janine?

Kate: (With concern) That's actually what I w Kate: (With concern) That's actually what I
wanted to talk to you about. I've noticed that Janine has been absent every Friday for
the past few weeks, and I wanted to discuss it with you. Is there any particular reason
for this?

Dianne: (nods) Yes, there is. My husband and I run a small business and our Friday’s
are our busiest day. Janine helps out and she also looks out for younger siblings when
we deliver our goods at the local market. We own a small farm and sell our products to
the market.

Kate: (Understanding) I see. That explains it. However, consistent absences can impact
Janine's learning progress. Is there any way we could find a solution together?

Dianne: (Sighs) I understand, Ma’am It's just that Janine's help is crucial for us,
especially on Fridays when we have a lot to do. We’ve been thinking about that too but
we’re not sure how to go about it.

Kate: Maybe we could arrange for Janine to do some extra work or assignments during
the week to make up for the missed classes. Or perhaps she could stay back for a bit
after school on another day to catch up.

Dianne: (Gratefully) That sounds like great idea. Thank you, Ma’am, for being so
understanding. I really appreciate your willingness to work with us on this.

Kate: (Warmly) Of course, Ma’am. My priority is to ensure that Janine receives the best
education possible while still supporting your family's needs. Let's work together to find
a solution that works for everyone.

[The conversation ends on a positive note, with both Kate and Mrs. Aguilar committed to
finding a solution that addresses Janine's absences while honoring her family
commitments.]
