“ Doing Roles and Responsibilities as Family
Members”

Everyone, that is you and me, is a member of a

family. As a members brother or sister to your
siblings. With the roles come accompanying you
play the role of son or daughter to your father
and mother, and a responsibilities that you need
to do.

Lets talk about the member of the family.

The family consists of the father, mother, and the

children Each has a ole and responsibility in the
family. The role is your position in the family,
the responsibility is the corresponding duties you
need to do for while that role.

The Father

Heavy tasks like carpentry, gardening, lifting

heavy things, and doing repair works like
plumbing and electricity. He is the head of the
family. He takes care of his children by earning a
living so he can provide them food on the table,
home for their shelter, clothes to protect them,
and education to give them a good future. He
guides his children to become good children of
God and law-abiding citizens of the community.
He sets a good example for his children to follow
by being God-fearing, industrious, kind, honest.
affectionate, and persevering. He helps the
mother manage the household. He takes care of
As a head of the family, he consults the mother
and other members of the family on problems
and issues affecting everyone. However, in the
case of conflicts, he makes the final decision
which everyone should respect.

The Mother

The mother is the manager of the household. She

assigns household tasks and does the supervision
of these tasks. She takes care of the children,
plans the menu, does the shopping, prepares the
family meals or does housecleaning, laundering,
and other tasks. However, if she helps the father
in earning a living, she can delegate some of
these tasks to other members or hire a helper.
Today, both the father and mother can
interchange roles or share roles in housekeeping
and bread-winning depending on the needs and
desires of the family. The Family Code of the
Philippines states that both father and mother
have the of giving their children basic needs of
food, clothing, shelter, and the best education
possible as well as guiding them to become
responsible individuals.

The Brother

He helps the father in some household activities

such as home repairs gardening, and cleaning the
car. He helps the mother in the kitchen and other
household tasks. He also assist the sister in other
activities at home like running errands, taking
care of his brother or sister watering the plants
and some house cleaning.
The Sister

She helps the mother do some of the household

tasks like sh cooking, washing dishes, cleaning,
and keeping the house in order. She also helps in
taking care of her younger brothers and sister.
She may assist her brother in other household
tasks like gardening changing bed sheets and
curtains, and taking care of the laundry.

Nowadays, boys and girls are taught to do

household tasks regardless of their gender. This
means that boys, like girls, should know how to
cook and serve meals, repair or mend worn-out
clothes and socks, beautify the home, and take
care of their younger brothers and sisters. Girls,
like boy should also know how to do repair
works like changing a fuse, repair broken chairs
or equipment, repairing an electric cord,
repairing a leaking faucet, or doing gardening
work.

The benefit derived from training every member

of the family to do any kind of household work,
considering the age and health condition is that
everyone can be relied upon to do the work in the
absence of the other, It also encourages unity and
cooperation in making the home a beautiful and
happy place to live in.
