A. Pre-Reading
1. Unlocking of Vocabulary Difficulties
(The teacher shows conversation using drawing
of students to present the words for vocabulary
development. The conversation between two students
will be presented using PowerPoint Presentation)

I will present to you a conversation


of two students. They are Nene and Timmy.
With the help of these two students, we can unlock
the difficult words that we will encounter in the
selection. Now let us know what they are talking
about?

But before we listen to their conversation,


what are the standards in listening
to a dialogue? Ma’am, listen attentively.
Ma’am, we should be quiet.
Ma’am, we should focus on the
dialogue.

Very good class. Now let us start.


Nene: Can you go with me; I just want to buy a gift for my mom’s birthday?

Jimmy: Sure I will. What gift are you planning to buy?

Nene: Imitation of pearls which is made by jeweler. But I’m afraid that costs extra.

Jimmy: Ok, then we will go to monger’s shop to buy oyster shell so we can tuck your
gift to that. So when she unwrapped it she can display it too.

(After the teacher reads the dialogue, she asks the


pupils to tell the meaning of the unfamiliar words.)

Now, let us look at the underlined words


one by one. Based on the dialogue, what
is the meaning of the word imitation? Ma’am, imitation means to
copy something.
And how about the word fish monger? Ma’am, monger means
trader of fish.
What is the meaning of jeweler? Ma’am jeweler means
person sells jewel.
Another word what is the meaning of
Tuck and cost? Ma’am tuck means to hide
and cost means expense.
That’s right!
(The teacher shows the meaning of unfamiliar
word with pictures through PowerPoint Presentation.)

1.Motivation
Class, we are going to have our gift box word for
today. For us to find it, let me give you a box then if
I stop the song the student whose hold a box will open
it. Are you ready? Yes, we are!

(The teacher plays the music.)

Before we proceed to our story, what


are the things that you should remember
while the teacher is conducting a story
telling? Ma’am, we should focus on the
story.
Ma’am, we should keep quiet.
Ma’am, we should listen attentively.
(The teacher conducts story. At some part
of the story, the teacher asks the pupils to
predict what will happen in the story?
As she reads the story,
she pulls off the part called for.

C. Post Reading
1. Engagement Activities (Small Groups)
Now class, we will be having a group activity.
You will be divided into four groups. Each group
should choose a leader who will lead the group
upon doing the assigned task for you. Is that
clear? Yes Ma’am!

Group 1-
 Creating a simple happy family illustration whose giving gift.
You can add other design to your work.
Group 2-
Make a dramatization about the story that you have been read.
Group 3-
Judy is the girl in story who is thinking about gift, that she will be given to her
mother. Is it right to give a gift to other people? Give advice for Judy to finish
her task.
Group 4-
Make a letter inside the box for your family and expressing your love for them.
On the first side of the letter inside the box, write down the things that Judy
wants to give to her mother. On the other side of the letter inside the box, if you
are Judy what design would be the earring looks like, draw it below?

Alright. Before we start the group activity,


what are the standards while having group
activity? Ma’am, we be cooperatively.
Ma’am, we should not be noisy
while doing the activity.
Ma’am should follow the
instructions.

(PowerPoint) in the discussion.

D. Guided Practice
We will be having a game. Our game is entitled
“I Sentence you because you complete me!”
Everyone must form a circle then I have a box here when the music stops the one who
hold the box will give the subject and the opposite of that student whose hold a box will
give the predicate to complete the sentence. The music start means start to play, you are
going to pass the box.

(The teacher will say “Stop, I sentence you


because you complete me).
Let us now begin. (The pupils play.)

E. Independent Practice
Class, we will be having another group activity.
I will divide the class into three groups. Each
group will be receiving an activity card which
includes the procedure of what you are going
to do. (teacher play a music then after 5 minutes
it will stop.)

But before we start, what are the standards while


having a group activity? Ma’am, we should participate
Ma’am, we should be follow the
direction.
After five minutes, each group will present their
work. You may now begin.

The pupils are given materials then they have to complete the given puzzle. Find the

THE SPECIAL GIFT BOX
 Judy was going to buy a pair of earrings for her mother’s birthday.
Daddy went with her to the jeweler’s shop to help her choose a pair of earrings.
Judy did not take long to find the pair of earrings that she liked the best.
Jeweler made imitation pearls.

Daddy was puzzled until next morning when Mommy unwrapped her present. The pearl
earrings were tucked up inside a pretty oyster shell.
Mommy was thrilled with her pearl earrings and oyster shell gift box from Judy.
