EXERCISE 2: QUOTES
Look at some quotes about love and Valentine’s Day and guess what the missing words might be. The
first letters are provided.
After they have finished, ask students to choose two quotes about love (A–E) and explain what they
T mean in their opinion. Then, ask them to choose the quote which best describes their attitude towards
Valentine’s Day (F–I). Ask them to explain.

EXERCISE 3: PERSONALITY
Put the letters in bold in the right order to create positive adjectives to describe people.
After they have finished, ask students to choose three adjectives they think are the most important in a
partner or a friend. Alternatively, you can can ask them to choose three adjectives that describe their

partner or a friend. Then, ask them to give examples of the partner’s or friend’s behaviour that the
adjectives describe. For example: My friend is charming because she gives me a lot of compliments.
A. He is kind, mraghcin charming and genuinely interested in other people.
B. It’s important to be nthoes honest with your family. If you see a problem, just talk about it.
C. My partner is very mintocra romantic. Last Valentine’s Day, she planned the whole day for just the

Before students start doing the task, ask them the following questions: Have you or anyone you know
ever used a dating app or friendship app? What is your/their experience? Would you use an app to find
a partner or a friend? Why/Why not?
After students have finished the task, ask them to think about dating apps and name: two pieces of

information that can be found in a bio; two things people (probably) look at when they are browsing
other people’s profiles; two reasons someone might swipe left (reject a profile); two steps someone
can take when they get a match; two things people (probably) write about when they exchange
messages on a dating app.
Order of steps: 2, 4, 1, 5, 3
1. If you like someone’s profile, swipe/swear/swag right.
2. Once you have downloaded the app, upload a profile picture and write a short summary/bio/diary.
Other users will want to know who you are and what you are looking for!
3. You can now start scrolling/exchanging/swiping messages. If you like the person, suggest a
meeting! You can get a coffee or go for a walk together.
4. When your profile is ready, you can start seeking/chasing/browsing other people’s profiles.
5. The message ‘It’s a catch/batch/match!’ means the person whose profile you liked also liked your
profile.
