YES-O Camp 2023 Unfolds at SNSHS

In line with Republic Act No. 9512, or the Environmental Awareness and Education
Act of 2008, Siargao National Science High School (SNSHS) holds the Yes-O (Youth for
Environment Schools Organization) Camp from November 16–18, 2023.
After the students from Grades 7 to 12 have been sorted randomly into four
different teams: Air, Fire, Earth, and Water, The school’s Yes-O Coordinator, Ms. Marielle C.
Gubaton, prepared events related to natural and environmental science for the 3-day long
activity; these are: extemporaneous speaking, stemazing, egg parachutes, bridge making,
barge making, marshmallow towers, weightlifting, quiz bowls, and lastly, the Yes-O Evening
Pageant, in which a male and female participant from each of the four teams participated to
earn the title of Mr. and Ms. Yes-O 2023, with the theme, “Siyensa, Matematika,
Teknolohiya, at Inobasyon: Kabalikat sa Matatag, Maginhawa, at Panatag na Kinabukasan”.
Thereafter, on the third day, the awarding for these events was done in the school’s
multi-purpose building.
Due to the pandemic, the school was not able to perform this activity for 3 years, but
now that it has been brought back for the first time after its hiatus, the learners will now
have a fun learning experience in the world of science.
