A. Narrative Report

It’s 2 AM midnight and I am preparing for today’s hiking and tree planting.
The given meetup time is 5:30 in the morning, but I live in San Marcelino,
Zambales and it’s a one hour trip to Olongapo City so I have to prepare early and
catchup to the bus. In order to go to the tree planting venue we must take a
white jeep and it’s a 30 minute trip to Gordon Heights.

Hiking

It was a perfect sunny day to go on a hiking. After arriving to the venue at the
foot of the mountain we are instructed to be standby for a minute. With my
blockmates we are instructed to start climbing the mountain. I felt a sense of
excitement together with my blockmates because it is my first time hiking and
tree planting. The joy of doing something plus together with your friends is an
unexplainable feeling. The first 5 minute of hiking is easy because the road is
cemented and flat, the others are having fun also and saying the hike is easy and
they are laughing. Once we’ve reach the part of the road that is not cemented the
instructors told us to have a break because we will let the ambulance and other
government vehicles to go first. After a short break, we continued our hike to the
first venue of the event. This is where they will give the tree plant, and each
person is given two tree plants. All of us are still enjoying the event because the
hike was still fairly easy. And that was a big mistake, when we asked if we are
near the tree planting site the government personal said that we are just starting
and we still have a long way to go. After hearing that a lot of my classmates
laughs but with nervousness. The hike was pretty long and the trail is steep and
slippery, it was pretty dangerous because the rocks are sharp and there’s tons of
them. A rough estimation of 45 minutes of hiking we’ve reach the tree planting
site.

Tree Planting

The tree planting is easier than the hike because there are holes prepared for
us to put the tree in it. The view at the top of the mountain is beautiful. We did
take a break after planting the tree and enjoy the venue with my blockmates.
