Lesson Plan in Mathematics 4

Content Standards:
The learner demonstrates understanding of whole numbers up to 100 000
Performance Standards:
The learner is able to recognize and represent whole numbers up to 100 000 in
various forms and contexts.
Learning Competency and Code:
The learner reads and writes numbers up to hundred thousand in symbols and in
words. M4NS-Ia-9.4
Quarter: 1 Week: 1 Day: 4

I. Objectives:
At the end of 50 minutes, 100% of the learners are expected to:
1. Read and write numbers up to 100 000 in symbols and in words.
2. Write numbers in words correctly.
3. Participate actively in different class activities.

II. Content:

III. Learning Tasks:
A. Drill: (Using Show-me-Board)
Teacher will dictate these numbers and pupils will write in their show-me-boards.

B. Review: ( Game )
The teacher shows the pupils a flower with numbers written on the petals.
The teacher lets each pupil pick one petal of the flower (one at a time) and
have him/her read and write the numbers in words.

C. Motivation: (Mix and Match)


Distribute a set of cards with numbers written in symbols and another set of

cards with their equivalent in words. Tell the pupils to find their match. The
first pair to find their match wins. Post the number pairs on the board.

D. Presentation:
Post the problem on the board.(Integration in Reading Skill)

Glenda heard from the newscaster that there are one


thousand twenty-five voters in Barangay Lumbayao and
one thousand three hundred twenty four voters in
Barangay Sinabuagan. She wrote the numbers on her paper
this way.

Discussion:
Ask the following questions to the pupils: Is she correct in writing the
numbers? Why? Which number is written correctly? Why? Which is not?
What is the correct way of writing this number? How many digits does the
number have? Can you read?
Instill the Values Integration:
The teacher will instill the importance of farmers in our country and lead
them to the idea that farmers work harmoniously as a team to have a better
harvest. Emphasize on how to write the numbers correctly.
1. Always use space to separate in between the periods.
Example: 125 354
2. Use comma to separate the number words of the given periods.
Example: one hundred twenty five thousand, three hundred fifty four

1. Group Activity:
Divide the class into 4 groups. Assign a task for each group.
Read and write the numbers in words from:

Teacher will discuss the outputs of the pupils after reporting activities.
How were you able to do your task?
Teacher will call some pupils to read some numbers they have written and
call pupils to write the numbers in words on their show-me-boards and ask
questions.
2. Group Activity: Relay Game
Mechanics:
Group the pupils into 2. Let them form a line inside or outside the
classroom.
The teacher will writes all the exercises in a rolled paper pastes it on the
board.
When the teacher says “go”, pupils take turns in going to the board. The
first group to read and writes the number in words wins.
