GUIDELINES IN MAKING SCIENCE PORTFOLIO

Portfolio is a collection of work “to support reflection that can help students to understand their own
learning and to provide a richer picture of student work that documents growth over time” (Barret,
2005)
Portfolios show progression in learning over time. Selecting portfolio pieces allows for student
choice, and their own evaluation of what best showcases their learning. Reflection is a key portion of
the portfolio – allowing students to consider their assignment, learning, strengths and weaknesses,
and how to improve. As a student progresses through grade levels, peer review and constructive
commentary play a role for student self-assessment and opportunities to plan progress

NOTE:
Your portfolio in science is a collection of outputs and performances. It is a reflection of yourself. So
please make it organize, informative, neat, creative and learnings (reflections) must be relevant. Your
portfolio and reflection will be recorded under Performance Task.
Here are the parts of your portfolio.
I. Introduction
Guide Questions
a. What is a science portfolio?
b. What is the goal of creating a science portfolio?
c. What is the importance of creating science portfolio?
d. About the author/owner/writer of the portfolio. (In here, you must be able to
introduce yourself in your most creative)
II. Contents
A. Written Works
1. Quizzes/Unit Tests/Chapter Test
2. Assignments/Home works
3. Seat works
4. Worksheets
5. Experiment Write-up
6. Reflection Papers (but not the reflection of learnings for the whole quarter)
7. Other Formative Assessments
B. Performance Tasks
1. Performance Task outputs (projects, brochure, fliers, videos etc.)
2. You may also include here the rubrics and feedbacks used during the presentation
of your outputs.
C. Quarterly Assessment
1. Periodic examination (checked test paper)
Note: There should be a partition for these entries in your portfolio. You may use the clear book
as your portfolio (since it is just a compilation of output)
III. Learning Reflections
In this section, you will be given guide questions to be answered in order for you to
create a comprehensive, informative and relevant reflection. This writing of reflection
will be done every quarter.

IV. Documentation
- In this part, please include photos of your activities and performances (science and
research subject) you think relevant. Add caption to every photo.
