INTRODUCTION
Early-level students are required to excel so that their grades can support them in the academic
field. Middle-level students are recommended to improve their grades that were not good in the
previous semester and while final year students are led to hastily graduate to avoid the threat of
dropping out or being expelled from the campus. TPC has an obligation and responsibility to be
able to produce graduates who have quality and can integrate in levels of society.

outside of the school premises, could include their engagement in mobile gaming activities.
Being a student goes through many things, such as high demands for achievement, assignments
from lectures, pressure from the environment to immediately complete lectures and also having
to be good at managing time which must be prioritized to do. This dynamic makes students late
in com pleting assignments and overnight students immediately work on several assignments that
are deliberately piled up. Students take action to delay important work and often do more fun
A study of Dumrique and Castillo (2018) found that playing mobile games does not badly
affect students' grades as long as they can control themselves and are entirely aware of their
limitations. In contrast, Heiden (2019) found that problematic and excessive mobile gaming can
have negative effects including students' poor academic performance. Webroot (2020) further
argued that mobile gaming is definitely linked to students' poor grades. While Gentile (2011) and
his colleagues also found that more hours spent in mobile gaming seemed to act as a risk factor
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
For this study is based on SAT (Self-Affirmation Theory) [9]. [13]-[17]. According to the study of
Sherman and Cohen, this theory says that an individual can be strongly motivated when it comes to
maintaining its self-worth [4]. With the three basic needs that can be linked with the SAT theory
namely; autonomy, competence, and relatedness which can be applied with the establishment of the
framework with this study. See figure 2.1 for the research framework. The playtime and satisfaction
[18], [19] add up to this framework in which we assess if this theory and the framework would
explain the behavior of the current Mobile Legends players during this pandemic

This diagram shows the conceptual framework of this study. First the input contains the independent
and dependent variables. The research process includes the traditional survey questionnaires to
collect all the data. The output is about the awareness of negative effect of playing Mobile Legends:
Bang Bang towards the academic performance among Senior High Students.
This study aims to give awareness about the negative effects of playing Mobile Legends: Bang
Bang towards the academic performance among Senior High Students in Trinity Polytechnic
College academic Year 2023-2024. Specifically, it seeks to answer the following questions:
a. Age
b. Gender
2. What are the negative effects of playing Mobile Legends: Bang Bang to Senior High Students
in academic performance?
3. How does Senior HIgh Students manage their time in playing Mobile Legends: Bang Bang?
4. Why Senior High Students are addicted in playing Mobile Legends:Bang Bang?
HYPOTHESIS
(H1) Playing Mobile Legends: Bang Bang significantly affects the study habits of senior high
students negatively.
(H2) There is a significant negative correlation between the frequency of playing Mobile Legends:
Bang Bang and the level of concentration in academic tasks among senior high students.
(H3) The level of engagement in playing Mobile Legends: Bang Bang significantly influences
This study mainly focuses on analyzing the negative effect towsrds the academic performance of
Senior High Students+. To obtain knowledge about this study, the researcher used quantitative
research. This study is only focused among Senior High students studying at the Trinity

DEFINITION OF TERMS
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang - (Moonton, 2016) Mobile Legends or Mobile Legends: Bang Bang
is a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game designed for mobile phone.
Negative effect - (Dictionary.ap.org,) the internal feeling state (affect) that occurs when one has
failed to achieve a goal or to avoid a threat or when one is not satisfied with the current state of
affairs.
