At the end of the lesson, the student should be able to:
1. Identify film as one of the various media-based arts design in the Philippines.
2. Perform some of the different allied arts of filmmaking.
3. Realize that technology is an effective and vibrant tool for empowering a person to express his/her
ideas, goals, and advocacies, which elicits immediate action.

“Now let’s proceed to our main discussion”.

- Film or cinema is another art form it added the


dimension of moving images, as its original
name "motion pictures" proclaimed. The
potential of this medium led to the creation of a - (students are listening)
brand-new art form that would go on to become
a significant social and economic force and a
lasting legacy of the 20th century.

CINEMA
- Like other contemporary arts, cinema has been
strongly influenced by technology. Yet, cinema
is an art form that was created as a result of
technological developments. With the
development of "series photography" and
celluloid strip film in the late 1800s, still
photography underwent a transformation.

KINETOSCOPE
The Kinetoscopes peepto cabinet with an
eyebole, which let one person to watch these
first movies at a time, was developed in
response to the demand for these moving - (students are listening)
images. The filmstrip was moved by a mote
inside the cabinet in a loop while being
illuminated from below by an electric bulb.

FILM DIRECTING
- The director, like the painter and the sculptor in
traditional art, is the one who plans the final
impact of the movie on the audience's eyes,
minds, and hearts. Film directors use ideas,
pictures, sounds, and other effects to create this
work of art, whereas painters and sculptors use
tangible things.

ACTING
The art of acting for films came first and foremost.
Film actors had to learn to express themselves
without the dramatic facial expressions and - (students are listening)
movements utilized on stage because live theatre
was the only form of acting available at the time.

CINEMATOGRAPHY
The craft of using film cameras, was done in
the background. Through the use of unique
techniques such as camera movement, - (students are listening)
positioning, and lighting, each scene was
accurately depicted as the filmmaker intended.

EDITING
Film editing, the skill of picking the exact film
segments, then arranging and combining them to - (student are listening)
produce the director's desired visual and emotional
effect, was added to this Sound editing was also
evolved, as films grew to contain more ambitious
effects beyond the dialogue and background music.

PRODUCTION / SET DESIGN


Behind all of these was the production and set - (student are listening)
design arts. This was physically re-enacted through
setting, scenery, sets, and lighting. The director's
mental picture of how each scene should seem, the
time period it should depict, and the mood it should
evoke was represented by clothes and props.
