B. Presentation of the Lesson

Our topic for this meeting is all about

Animation. (omit this part as I suggested
make questions that the students can
identify the topic for the day)

Animation is the simulation of movement

created by a series of pictures is animation.
But how it actually works is a bit
complicated than that. Before we get to
the various types of animated motion
pictures, let’s with an animation definition.

What is Animation? Kindly read (name of Animation is a method of photographing successive

the student) drawings, models, or even puppets, to create an illusion

of movement in a sequence. Because our eyes can only

retain an image for 4 approx. 1/10 of a second, when
multiple images appear in fast succession, the brain
blends them into a single moving image. In traditional
animation, pictures are drawn or painted on transparent
celluloid sheets to be photographed. Early cartoons are
examples of this, but today, most animated movies are
made with computer-generated imagery or CGI.

Giving the appearance of movement to

static images, models, or other inanimate
objects is called animation. Animation is a
very common kind of entertainment, both
in movies and on television.

Here is the example of animation.

This is the example of animation and if you

can see they process of bringing
illustrations or inanimate objects to life
through motion pictures. Animation
techniques manipulate photos and
drawings to give the illusion of movement
and present a narrative to viewers on In recent decades, a whole new career opportunity has
screen. emerged for creative Filipinos via the field of animation.
In fact, Filipino animators have been involved in the
creation of some of the best-loved and technically
challenging animated feature films produced in the last
few years. Among these are Toy Story, Up, The
Incredibles, Monsters University, Cars, Finding Nemo,
Planes, Brave, Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, and more. Such
recognition of Philippine talent abroad has, in fact,
spurred the development of the local animation industry
as well.
Here in the Philippines, we have 2
companies that giving life for Animations,
the first one is Animation Council of the
Philippines, Inc. (ACPI) and Philippine
Animation Studio, Inc. (PASI).

(Name of the student) kindly read. Animation Council of the Philippines – The Animation
Council of the Philippines, Inc. (ACPI) is a non-stock,
non-profit organization that aims to create an identity
for the Philippines within the animation industry, making
it one of the preferred sources for animation services

worldwide. The organization works hand in hand with

participating colleges and universities, the Technical
Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and
other government agencies, and local government units
to develop animation as a promising career option for
Filipinos. In 2013, TESDA and ACPI began offering 2D and
3D Animation Scholarships to interested high school
graduates, between the ages of 18 and 45.

ACPI Aims to Promote the Filipino Talent in

Animation and to Harness Our Capability in
Content Delivery Both Locally and
Internationally. With The Cooperation of
its Members as well as The Philippine
Government, we Envision our Members

Animahenasyon is an annual Filipino

animation festival that features the
different animation works of both aspiring
and professional animators in the country
through a competition. To further
advocate continued learning and
development on the arts and craft of
animation, a series of symposium and
interaction between international guest
animators with local animators and
students were conducted. Also, part of the
festival is the exhibit of the works of this
year’s lifetime achievement awardee.

Watch and listen carefully, this video is one

of the finalists of Animahenasyon.

What can you say about the video? (The student will answer, defends of their understanding
in the video)

Okay, very good class!

The second company is Philippines

have been Captain Flamingo, Producing Parker, Groove
High, and Space Heroes Universe. For this last cartoon,
PASI was tapped by a children’s entertainment company

Different types of Animation

Traditional animation, also known as cel animation, or
1. Traditional Animation hand-drawn animation, is an animation technique where
each frame of the film is drawn by hand, and was - until
the arrival of computer animation - the dominant form
used in cinema.

2D animation occurs when we combine different pictures

of different heights and widths together, which creates
an illusion of movement in a two-dimensional world
without any depth.

2. 2D Animation (Vector-based)
3D animation is the process of creating moving three-
dimensional images in a digital context. These visuals are
made using 3D software, allowing animators to create
computerized objects that look 3D even though they're
on a 2D surface.

3. 3D Animation

Motion Graphics is also called Motion Design, making the

relationship between movement and design elements
easier to understand.

4. Motion Graphics

Stop motion animation is an advanced flipbook-style

form of animation. It involves photographing and then
physically manipulating objects within your frame.
