c. Lesson Proper

Class, our topic for today is all

about the noteworthy Philippine
photographers but before that let's
first define what photography is.
Marny, kindly read.
PHOTOGRAPHY
In this early stages during the late 19th
century, photography was viewed as a
purely technical process that of recoding
visible image by light action on light-
sensitive materials. In fact, its very
name- from the Greek “photos”
(meaning light) and “graphos” (meaning
writing) --- states this process literally.
Photography is the process of
recording an image—a photograph
—on light-sensitive film or, in the
case of digital photography, via a
digital electronic or magnetic
memory.
Class, the word photography
comes from the Greek word?

Light
And “graphos” means?

Okay, let’s proceed to The
Photographer as Artist. Joy, kindly
read!

Photography as a process involves

focusing a camera on a subject and
clicking the shutter button. Discerning a
significant moment or a unique
expression, framing it in the camera
viewfinder with an eye for composition,
and clicking the shutter is photography
Good! as art.

eye for composition are that
factors that elevate a photographer

as Communication.

Photography as Communication
This power comes from two distinctive
characteristics of photography:
immediacy and details. An image
recorded by a camera has a sense of
authenticity. Because the lens captures
the image objectively, the resulting
photograph is regarded as “true to life”
and “of the moment”.
Nice! Anyone can share their
thoughts on why photography is a
communication tool?
Sir!
Yes, Vea?
At its core, photography allows us to
capture and share moments in time,
giving us the ability to convey emotions,
ideas, and stories without the need for
words.
Excellent!
Class, being modern art form
means that photography is now
viewed as being more than just
about beautiful. It is considered
one of the most powerful means
communication. Moreover, the
photographic image is today’s
most important means of
conveying information and ideas,
expressing emotions, even
championing causes.
