I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard
The learners demonstrate an understanding of the characteristics of light.
B. Performance Standard
The learners shall be able to suggest proper lighting in various activities.
C. Learning Competencies
The learners should be able to explain color and intensity of light in terms of its wave characteristics.
D. Specific Learning Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:
1. identify the common properties and characteristics of light;
2. describe how the wavelength and frequency of light relate to the color;
3. describe how the intensity and amplitude of light relate to the brightness; and
4. apply their understanding of the characteristics of light to practical situations in daily life.

Now, I have some images here.
What I want you to do is classify them
into two. If you think the image is
portraying something related to
brightness, you have to classify and place
it under brightness. And if you think the
image is about color, then you have to
place it under color. Understood?

Guide Questions:
1. How does the wavelength and
frequency of light relate to the
color?
2. How would you describe the
relationship between the
amplitude and the brightness and
intensity of light?
3. How does dispersion occur?
4. How would you measure the
brightness of a light source?

lesson Have you all understood the task?
Yes, Sir!
Okay, then, you may start. You have 10
minutes to complete the task.
(Students’ answers may vary, but
they should answer the question like
this.)
The brightness and color of light can
have a significant impact on our lives
and the activities we do. Here are
some examples:
1. Productivity: Bright light can
help improve productivity by
increasing alertness and
reducing fatigue. In
workplaces, such as offices
and factories, the use of
bright, white light can help
employees stay focused and
energized throughout the day.
2. Safety: Bright, high-contrast
lighting can improve safety in
public spaces, such as roads,
parking lots, and pedestrian
walkways. Proper lighting can
help drivers and pedestrians
see each other more clearly,
reducing the risk of accidents.
3. Mood: The color of light can
affect our mood and emotions.
Cool colors, such as blue and
green, can promote calmness
and relaxation, while warm
colors, such as red and
orange, can create a sense of
warmth and energy. This is
why lighting designers use
color temperature to create the
desired mood and atmosphere
in various settings, such as
restaurants, hotels, and
theaters.
4. Health: Exposure to bright,
blue-rich light in the morning
can help regulate our
circadian rhythms and
improve our sleep-wake
cycles. This is especially
important for people who
work night shifts or spend a
lot of time indoors. In
addition, people with certain
medical conditions, such as
seasonal affective disorder
(SAD), may benefit from light
therapy, which involves
exposure to bright, artificial
light.
Okay, class, your time has ended. Please
pass your papers in front. In 1, 2, 3, 4,
and 5.

Quiz:
1. Which of the following is NOT a
characteristic of light?
a. Speed
b. Wavelength
c. Weight
d. Frequency
2. Which characteristics of light
refers to the amount of light
emitted by a source in quantity?
a. Brightness
b. Colors
c. Intensity
d. Wavelength
3. Which of the following colors has
the longest wavelength and
lowest frequency?
a. Blue
b. Green
c. Orange
d. Red
4. What best describes the
relationship between the
amplitude and the brightness of
light?
a. The higher the amplitude,
the less bright the light is.
b. The higher the amplitude,
the brighter the light.
c. The higher the amplitude,
the brightness remain
constant.
d. No relationship at all.
5. Which of the following situations

remediation Yes!
(Students continuously chat due to
excitement.)
Okay, class, listen up first.
Pssstt. Quiet everyone!
Are you ready to listen?
Yes, Sir!
Alright!
To do this, you have to choose a subject
or object to photograph. The subject
should remain the same throughout the
assignment, while the lighting should
vary.
Then, you are going to use three different
lighting sources: natural light, artificial
light, and colored light. You have to take
two photos for each lighting source. One
that is against the lighting source and
another one that is in the direction of the
lighting source.
To submit your work, print the photos on
a bond paper and label each photo with
the type of lighting source used. Then
write a short description of the impact of
the lighting on the mood and tone of the
image.
Understood?
Come again, sir? We weren’t able to
get that clearly.
Okay, I’ll just give you the instructions
through our group chat so that you will
be able to read and read the instructions
and to understand what you really have to
do.
Are there any questions or clarifications
about our topic today?
