8. Presenting From our previous lessons, you have learned that visible light is made up of
examples/ seven colors and each color speaks for different temperatures, intensity,
instances of the wavelength, and frequency. You have also learned the primary and
new lesson secondary colors of light. In this lesson, you will compare the different colors
of light in terms of wavelength, frequency, and speed.
(Engage)
(Students read the lesson objectives.)
But, before we proceed with our lesson, can everyone please read our
objectives for today. At the end of this lesson the students
are expected to:
a. Identify and describe
the characteristics of
light;
b. Arrange the order
of colors of light
based on their
wavelength and
frequency
c. Develop
understanding on
the characteristics of
light and relate it to
real life situations.
9. Discussing new
concepts and To deepen your understanding of the lessons and to discover new
practicing new concepts, perform the following activity.

Direction: Identify the wave/s described in each number by writing

the letter that corresponds to the correct answer.

1. Wave with the longest wavelength: ______

2. Wave with the highest frequency : ______

3. Wave with longer wavelength than Wave C : _____

4. Wave with the shortest wavelength : _____

5. Wave with the lowest frequency: _____

6. Wave/s with shorter wavelength than Wave A : _____

7. Wave with the most number of wave cycles : ______

8. Wave with more wave cycles than E but less than that of A: _____

9. Arrange the waves from shortest to longest wavelength :

_______________________________________________________
10.Arrange the waves according to increasing frequency:

10. Discussing new Activity No.2 : THE ORDER OF COLORS!
concepts & Direction: Arrange the colors below on how it is being asked. Refer to the
practicing new diagram below.
skills #2
(Explore)

a. Arrange the colors in increasing wavelength (from

shortest to longest wavelength)
b. Arrange the colors in increasing frequency (from lowest
to highest frequency)

11. Developing
Mastery Light is one of the electromagnetic waves with a wavelength which can be perceived
by the human eye.
(Explain) Visible spectrum is made up of different colors called as rainbow of colors such as
red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet (an acronym of ROYGBIV).
Colors of light or the visible spectrum can be described according to their
wavelength and frequency.

The wavelength of light is the distance between corresponding points in two

adjacent light cycles.
The frequency of light is the number of cycles of light that pass a given point in one
second. The unit 1 per second or Hertz (Hz) is the unit of frequency.

 Wavelength is inversely proportional to frequency of the wave

 Waves with higher frequencies have shorter wavelengths, and lower
frequencies have longer wavelengths.
 The Red color has the longest wavelength but it has the lowest
frequency among the light spectrum.
 The Violet color has the shortest wavelength, but it has the highest
frequency.

The product between the wavelength and frequency of each color of light is its
speed.
The speed of light depends on its frequency and wavelength. Each color travels at
different speeds when they travel through a medium such as air, water, and solid
materials. All colors of light as well as the members of the EM spectrum travel at
common speed, called the speed of light. The speed of light in vacuum is 3x108 m/s.

12. Finding practical Direction: Write greater than sign (>) or less than sign (<) to identify the
applications of hierarchy of colors of light in terms of their wavelength and frequency.

shortest wavelength to the longest wavelength.
5 Evaluating Directions: Read the questions carefully then choose the letter of the correct
learning answer in each item. Write your answer in a ¼ sheet of paper.

2 We can’t see waves beyond the visible light. Similarly, we can’t do things
outside our physical and mental capacity because we are orchestrated
within a certain range. What does this tell you?

remediation. Since the red light has the longest wavelength among all the colors, it is
least scattered by the small atmospheric particles. It can easily pass

through fog,
dust, smoke without being scattered. Thus, it is visible over a long distance
making it the right color to give danger signs. Remember that small air
particles scatter light with short wavelength and not those at longer
wavelength.
Write at least 2 danger signs in red color:
