ADVERBS OF FREQUENCY
The adverbs of frequency more use in English are: never hardly ever, rarely,
sometime,, often, normally, frequently, usually, occasionally, always.
We use the adverbs of frequency to talk about how often we do things or an
activity.
Note: we normally put the adverbs of frequency after verb «be» or an auxiliary
verb and before the main verb.
 An adverb of frequency goes before the main verb
STRUCTURE
Subject+ adverb+ main verb
Ex.: I always remember to do my homework.
He normally gets good marks in exam.
I usually walk to work.
She hardly ever drinks coffee.
I usually walk to work.
She hardly ever drinks coffee.
 An adverb of frequency goes after the verb to be
STRUCTURE
Subject+ to be adverb
Ex.: He is always late.
They are never pleased to see him.
 When we use an auxiliary verb (have, must, might, could, would, can,
will, and so forth) the adverb is placed between the auxiliary and the
main verb.
STRUCTURE
Subject +auxiliary+ adverb+ main verb
Ex.: I have often been here for my holiday.
You must never swim after a big meal.
They might never see each other again.
Note: the adverb sometimes, normally, frequently, occasionally can also be put
at the beginning of the sentence.
Ex.: you may say I sometimes go to bed early or sometimes I go to bed early.
When we want to say exactly how often we do things we use the following
expressions:

3
every day, every morning, every month, once a week, twice a week, three times
a week twice a year, every other week, daily, monthly and so forth. These are
adverbs of definite frequency which we use when we want to be more specific
about the frequency.
Ex.: I play tennis once a week.
She drinks milk three times a day.
John walks to school every day.
We drive to university twice a month.
Note: These expressions can only be put at the end of the sentence.
