CUSTOM?

A tradition: is the transmission of customs or beliefs from generation
to generation. It often has a religious connotation.

Ex. Marriage or baptism.

A Custom: is the habit, practice or  an established way of doing


things. It can be applied to a community or to an individual, implies a
more or less permanent continuance of a social usage.

Ex. It is the custom to give gifts at Christmas time.

Differences between an opinion and a fact and uses of modal verbs.

•In English we use modal verbs to express obligation, to express possibility, to express (un)
certainty and to give advice and recommendation as the following table shows:

Spelling exceptions -ING

1). If the verb ends in an E we remove the E


and add ING.

2). If the verb ends in a consonant + vowel +


consonant, we double the final consonant
and add ING. [But, we do not double the
final consonant when the verb ends in W, X
or Y or when the final syllable is not
emphasized.]

3). If the verb ends in IE we change it to


YING.
