Name: Marian Andrea S. Tana Course/Year: BEED 4 Date: September 18-25, 2023
As I observed the class, there were 12 boys and 15 girls inside the classroom. Since they are
Grade 1 students, some of them was not yet able to manage their own behavior, they keep on
crying from time to time, because of some reasons. Like their wants was not meet, they do not
have what their other classmates have, they cannot finish their tasks on time and even missing
their parents. But then, some can already accept things like losing a game during celebration of
feast day and accepting that they were not included in the list of winners who will receive a
reward. Since it was already our third week observing the Grade 1 students, we can see that
some do not yet know how to work independently like writing, reading and comprehending.
But most of them already know how to finish their tasks independently without any help from
teacher and pre-service teachers.
Also, all of them can independently go to the comfort room without any assistance whenever
they need to pee but, some of them needs an assistance when pooping because majority of
them was not yet trained how to wash. When it comes to my observations about their attention
span inside the classroom, they can easily feel bored when the lesson is not in field of their
interest. Some are continuous in their attention during the session because they have set in
their minds that learning is their main goal inside the classroom rather than playing. Some are
also playing but most of the time they are really performing well in academics. What did the
teachers do to get their attention is they always play some dance videos or animation to keep
them entertained and energized during the session.
1. There are areas inside the classroom that have important purposes like the storage
cabinet at the back, which where the envelopes, crayons, drawing books, and pencils
are placed. Also, they have this high storage rack where their personal kits are placed.
2. There are rules posted inside the room which was called as Marist SaRR which stands
for be Safe, be Responsible and be Respectful. These rules are imposed and practiced
not just inside the classroom but also to the whole elementary campus.
3. In rule making inside the classroom, a pupil can suggest whatever he wants about
himself and the environment around us. These rules can contribute to
4. The daily routines of the teachers are, opening prayer, energizer (some teachers only),
attendance, review of the past lesson, activity/assignment/discussion/quiz, closing
prayer.
5. The sitting arrangement of the class is arranged in alternate boys’ and girls’ position so
that, boys cannot play with their seatmates all the time and girls cannot talk to their
seatmates easily.
6. The teachers have their own way of managing the classroom noise, one of it is talking
very quiet for them to wonder why does the teacher talking very low and by that their
attention will be caught and will automatically keep quiet. Another one is imposing a
rule about the consequences that they will receive whenever they are noisy or
disobeying the classroom rules.
7. If some of the learners is not following the instructions or they are not doing the task,
the teacher will get their attention by calling out their name and tell them to erase the
answers because their answers will be wrong. For those who are not following or not
writing, the resource teacher will give an attention to them, give them some time and
wait for them. The resource teacher always helps them and wait for them before
proceeding to the next item so that everybody will follow and finish the tasks together
on time. This strategy also helps the students to answer all the items without skipping
any.
8. The resource teacher always imposes rules for them to follow and to achieve positive
behavior inside the class, by wearing face mask to avoid showing his reactions towards
the students which will affect their behavior. The students always know him for being
too serious and strict when it comes to imposing rules and disciplining the students.
1. Having an organized classroom and routines is a really important duty for the teachers
because everything that surrounds the students affects their behavior especially, the
classroom set ups and the teacher itself. When the classroom is more organized, the
students will also be organized with their things. If the routines are consistent, then the
students will be minded of all their actions and behavior inside the classroom.
2. When the teacher designs the classroom organization and routines, he/she should keep in
mind the grade level of the students first, then the behavior of the student because
classroom organization and routines is not effective if it does not fit to the category of the
students. The theories that I have in mind is the behaviorist theory or Skinner, this theory
is about how to control the behavior of students under a certain rule using punishment
and reward. In this, the student will follow right away and do its best to fulfill its own
desire which is to receive a reward.
3. Self-goal setting and self-reward is an effective behavior strategy and motivating the
students because in this, they set their mind that they can able to receive a reward if they
set a specific goal. These are effective in elementary students, specifically in primary
grade levels because they will feel more motivated when they that there is a reward in a
condition.
1. I can imagine myself in the future as a grade 2 teacher organizing my classroom and
applying the proper procedures to their grade level. I will impose classroom rules and
implement it for the whole year of classes like be responsible, be respectful and be kind.
These rules are the simplest and easiest rules that they will follow yet can promote a
conducive environment and organized for everybody.
2. The rules that I will likely to implement in Grade 2 level is; be kind to one another, Keep
quiet, be honest, be responsible, and be respectful. I choose these rules because they are
simple but easy to follow by the primary grade levels.
3. No, because only the teacher has the right to make the rules and by that, he/she has the
authority also to implement it. The student’s role is to follow what was implied and be
mindful about it. If the learners are involved in making the class rules, there are
possibilities that they will look to themselves as superior than their teacher.
