Analyze
1. How did the classroom organization and routines affect the learners’ behavior?
The classroom organization and routines affect the learners’ behavior because the
classroom and the routines are organized then the students are interested to learn. The
classroom organization and routine can increase student confidence and comfort levels since
learners know what is expected of them in different situations. The set routines are especially
helpful since learners need extra support in regulating their behavior.
2. What should the teacher have in mind when she/he designs the classroom
organization and routines? What theories and principles should you have in mind?
The teacher should keep in his/her mind when designing the classroom organization
and routines that they will avoid some of the distractions that keep the students from
functioning effectively and will affect the students’ behavior and learning. The behaviorist
theory can be applied, stating that the teacher’s role is to establish rules and procedures and to
communicate these rules clearly to students in order to implement appropriate rewards and
punishments for compliance with the rules.
3. Which behavior strategies were effective in managing the behavior of the learners?
In motivating students? Why were they effective?
The use of positive reinforcement is vital to encourage and maintain appropriate
behavior and academic learning. Some teachers resist the use of reinforcement under the
assumption that extrinsic rewards reduce students’ intrinsic motivation to interact. It is vital
to know that children learn the intrinsic value of activities through the effective teaching of
skills that allow them to access and luxuriate within the activity, supported by initial exposure
to the extrinsic rewards provided by teachers for developing and displaying the relevant
skills.
Reflect
1. Imagine yourself organizing your classroom in the future. In what grade year level
do you see yourself? What routines and procedures would you consider for this
level, why?
I picture myself teaching in the 9th grade. I know that students of this age are
sensitive and have a strong need for approval from others; thus, defeating comments or
criticism can sometimes have debilitating effects. So, in line with these, I must develop,
teach, and enforce them with specific routines for basic situations like the passing of papers,
treating one another with respect, gaining respect from others, leaving to go to the restroom,
working in small groups, and taking attendance. To provide a smooth, uninterrupted class
discussion, I must strictly adhere to these routines. When students know exactly what is
expected of them, the time saved can be spent teaching rather than organizing, instructing, or
disciplining.
2. Make a list of the rules you are likely to implement in this level. Why would you
choose these rules?
 Arrive to class on time and be ready to learn
 Follow directions
 Talking while the teacher is discussing is taboo
 Eating during class hours is not allowed
 Do not cheat instead do your best
 Use polite and appropriate words
 Ignorance of the law excuses no one
These rules were chosen because they are straightforward, specific, and easy to
follow. These rules will assist me maintain harmony in the classroom and establish a rapport
with my future students that is based on unity, peace, and order.
3. Should learners be involved in making the class rules? Why?
Students should be involved in making classroom rules and regulations since they
should be aware of such things, be well-oriented, and have an idea of the possible sanctions
that might be given if they violate the said rules. I believe that learners play a vital role inside
the classroom; they begin to learn the rules, and they are inclined to have rule ownership. If I
give them the freedom to choose the rules they are comfortable with, then it will be easier for
them to follow and implement those rules they have personally set. When rules are followed,
it results in an orderly, productive, and effective classroom management that is conducive to
learning.
