6.8.7. The door will be then positioned inside the frame to verify that all the components fit
together. The door frame will be adjusted if necessary.

6.8.8. “Touch-up” any minor scratches or damage. (As per attached Recommendation)

6.9. APPLICATION OF FIRE RATED SEALANT / MORTAR (if applicable)

The gap between the wall and the door frame will be sealed with fire rated sealant. In general, the
gap is approx. 5mm; therefore, first it will be filled with appropriate fire-resistant mortar prior to
the application of sealant.
The surface of the wall and the door frame will be cleaned prior to mortar filling. A masking tape
will be fixed to protect the surface of the frame and provide uniform gap for sealant application.
The mortar will be applied in the gap using a trowel. Once the mortar is cured appropriately and
has achieved the desired strength, the application of fire rated sealant will commence as given
below:

6.9.1. Ensure that the surface for both the frame and the wall are cleaned properly and free from
any unnecessary items.

6.9.2. A masking tape will be fixed for both the frame and the wall. This will protect the surface of
the frame from being applied by the sealant and provide uniform gap on both side and top
between the wall and the frame.
6.9.3. Applying the fire rated sealant (the maximum allowable gap prior the application shall not
be more than 5mm) with the outmost care and precision using caulk guns. Ensure that the
remaining gap between the wall and the frame for all three sides are filled properly to avoid
fire from penetrating the other side.

6.9.4. The excess sealant will be removed by scrapper and ensure that the applied sealant is at the
same level as the finish wall.

6.9.5. The masking tape will be removed after a minimum of 24 hours in order to provide time for
the curing period of the fire rated sealant.

6.10. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION – DOOR & FRAME

6.10.1. Check structural opening is correct size (tolerance 0 mm till +3.0 mm).

6.10.2. Check that there is no twist of the opening frame or bulkhead plate in either the vertical or
horizontal plane (allowable tolerance ± 2.0 mm).

6.10.3. Check that the opening frame is vertically aligned (tolerance ± 2.0 mm).

6.10.4. If any deviation is noted the structural opening must be corrected within the tolerances
given above.

6.10.5. Examine door, frame and ironmongery for damage which may have occurred during
transport. For packing purposes, the door closing device (if supplied) will have the arms
disconnected. When unpacking, remove the tape holding the arms, but do not connect until
the door has been installed.

6.10.6. Door and frame must be installed as a single unit and not dismantled.

6.10.7. Fix the self-adhesive gasket heavy duty 50x3mm to the door frame.

6.10.8. Lift the door leaf and frame together ensuring that the door lock is in its locked position
and offer it up to the structural opening.

6.10.9. In erected position visually check door leaf flatness against seal on all four sides.

6.10.10. Drill holes in the structural framing through the four-corner door frame pre-drilled
holes to suit fixing bolt diameter.

6.10.11. Install four corner fixing bolts and lightly tighten.

6.10.12. Visually check gasket between structural frame and door frame.

Note: it is recommended to install during installation a spacer at the opening bottom side
between door leaf and door frame with a thickness slightly more (1mm) than the gap to pick
up some lowering of the door leaf at the opening side after fixing of the bolts and nuts. This
due to tolerances in the door construction

6.10.13. Check door operation for swing. The door leaf when open at any position should
remain stationary in that position.

6.10.14. Check tightness of door seal in closed position.

6.10.15. In case door cannot be installed to the required flatness, shims to be used between
door frame and structure to obtain correct installation.

6.10.16. Proceed with drilling the structural frame through the remaining pre-drilled holes.

6.10.17. Insert bolts and tighten, checking at all stages the door operation and tightness of
the door leaf against the seal. Re-check seal tightness.

6.10.18. Connect arms of door closing device (if closer supplied). The closing force will be
pre-adjusted at the factory based on the door weight. Re-check ironmongery (lock, latch,
bolts and door closer etc.) in door leaf open and closed positions and adjust as necessary
