French Bulldog Crochet Pattern

FRENCH BULLDOG CROCHET PATTERN

Materials used:
Yarn in cream and black, I have used 50g
yarn Drops Nepal.
15 mm black safety eyes
20mm black dog safety nose
2.5mm crochet hook
Small amounts of white felt for the eyes.
Small amounts of felt for a bow tie, a
ruler and some glue. I have used Polka
dot felt but any felt can be used.
Alternatively eat a Lindt bunny and the
red necklace with bell work perfectly for
these little dogs!

Stitches used in American terminology:

MR – magic ring
Sc – single crochet
INC – increase by creating 2 stitches into the same stitch
INVDEC – decrease by picking up front loops of next 2
stitches only.

With these materials the Frenchie should measure approx 20 cm (8 inches) tall.

If making for a child I recommend omitting the bow tie as it may be a choking hazard if
removed.

Before making the head, cut 2 pieces of white felt into oval shapes slightly bigger than the safety eye. Cut a
small slit through the centre of the felt and poke the eye through the middle. Do not secure the back of the

Pin the muzzle to the front of the face with the top matching up with the magic ring and the central muzzle
approximately 2 rows under the eyes , insert the safety nose centrally 3 rows from the top of the muzzle.
Between row 3 and 4 of the muzzle in a central position. Start to sew around entire edge of the muzzle.

Once nearly complete stuff the snout section of the muzzle and point the nose rod downwards, this should
make the nose point upwards slightly. Finish sewing around the edge and weave the tail to the safety nose.
Work a couple of stitches beside the nose and up to the first row of 4 stitches, pull tightly and repeat a few
times – this should cause the nose to pucker up a little and look more squished. Secure with a knot and
weave in end.

Bow tie
In felt make 1:

Cut 2 pieces of felt measuring 5cm by 3cm. Cut 1 piece of felt measuring 1cm by 10 cm.

Place the 2 square pieces of felt on top of each other (with the polka dot felt I placed them back to back so
that the dots were on the outside on both pieces)

Place a dab of glue on one end of the 10cm piece and stick it to the centre of the bottom 5cm piece. Let dry.
Wrap the middle strip tightly around the square pieces twice, so that it pinches the middle of the bow in but
leave the 2 ends flat (use your fingers to adjust the shape until you are happy) when at the back of the bow,
add another dab of glue in the centre and stick the strip down. Then snip any remaining strip and leave the
glue to dry.

6
Once dry glue to the front of the pug!

Your French bulldog should now be finished!
