CONFERENCE AGENDA
DAY 1: MONDAY 6 FEBRUARY 2023
10:00 – 11:30 Inauguration and Opening Ceremony
Attendee insights: Policymakers share insights on progress made to transition to a low-carbon economy.
Attendee insights: A pertinent session exploring the decoupling of the global trade system.
Attendee insights: Energy ministers take the stage to consider issues surrounding energy prices, supply, and
security.
Attendee insights: Gas and LNG leaders talk about existing and planned gas infrastructure and the interventions
required to make Gas and LNG a source for a smart energy transition.
Attendee insights: Gain understanding of investment opportunities in the global exploration and production
industry.
Attendee insights: Spotlight on India’s circular economy approach in the energy sector.
India, with its robust economic growth, neutral foreign policy stance and a strong energy demand outlook position
has emerged as a strong power, making it an ideal ally to lead effectively in strengthening global economy and
governance issues.
Attendee insights: Spotlight on India’s achievements, potential and future role in global stage especially as a
demand centre of energy resources.
The 9th Asian Ministerial Energy Roundtable (AMER9) is hosted by the Government of India in association with the
International Energy Forum (IEF).
Event Schedule
09:00 – 09:45 Welcome and Opening Remarks (open to media and press)
Attendee insights: Exploring the impact of geopolitics and the global economic crisis on energy security and
net-zero ambitions.
India is one of the select few nations to have declared a clear hydrogen strategy with a production target of 5 MMT
of green hydrogen by 2030. Under its National Hydrogen Mission, India is actively looking to enhance the share of
green hydrogen in its energy mix in sync with its renewable energy programme.
Attendee insights: Learn more about green hydrogen economies and progress being made by India and other
countries in deploying this energy source at scale.
Attendee insights: Gain insight into the strategic importance of biofuels in energy security.
Attendee insights: Business leaders and policymakers contemplate on the energy system of the future and
opportunities presented today for a just energy transition.
Downstream strategies: the road ahead for refining and petrochemicals sectors
Many analysts forecast that the world’s energy transition will prompt a peak in oil-based fuel demand followed
by a decline. However, demand for petrochemical feedstocks is expected to grow. Refiners will need to identify
opportunities to adjust or modify production operations to meet the growing demand for petrochemicals,
prompting new thinking around how refineries are designed and operated, remaining aligned with expectations and
commitments around net-zero agendas.
Attendee insights: Understand pathways refining and petrochemical sectors are forging to meet with
decarbonisation goals as they meet growing demand for petrochemicals.
BLEENS: A clean cooking fuel stack solution for the Global South
Clean cooking fuels like biogas, LPG, electricity, ethanol, natural gas, and solar power (BLEENS) can provide solutions
for over 2.4 billion people that burn unprocessed solid fuels like firewood in poorly designed stoves. The scale of
some of the programmes implemented across the Global South including success story of India Pradhan Mantri
Ujjwal Yojna (PMUY), Ecuador’s induction stove, and Alcohol Stoves in Nigeria are unparalleled examples of achieving
climate goals as well as energy justice. Gaps around infrastructure, finance, and knowledge need to be addressed.
Attendee insights: Learn about clean cooking fuel stack solutions for the global South and its role in addressing
energy security, affordability, and net climate benefit.
The road to a cleaner grid: decarbonisation and energy diversification for the power and utilities
industry
It is important to strike a balance between both energy security and decarbonisation at the same time and there
is a clearer sense of the technologies that will need to be fast tracked to make that happen. Areas of grid-scale
electricity, green hydrogen, biofuels, carbon capture, geothermal energy, nuclear and large-scale battery storage
among others are on focus and a sustainable roadmap to a clean baseload is critical.
Attendee insights: Power and utilities leaders navigate pathways to a cleaner grid.
Attendee insights: Hear about the future of mobility, its impacts on the existing energy landscape, and emerging
partnerships as both industries transition to a low-carbon future.
Attendee insights: Highlighting the need for digitalisation and advanced technology adoption across the
industry, this session further explores the role of emerging energy technology.
Attendee insights: Learn about prospects energy transition brings to scale, upgrade, and transform existing
infrastructure to accommodate future sources.
Attendee insights: The Make in India policy plays a critical role for India’s national agenda. This session focuses
on the opportunities within the Indian energy sector under the initiative.
Attendee insights: This session provides insights on existing and upcoming renewable projects in India and
globally and expands on the opportunities available for renewable companies to scale their projects to achieve
2030 targets.
