1:RVPD-90 (rail over-voltage protection devices (OVPD)

1.1 Explain the principle

OVPD is a protection device which is used to protect working persons or
equipment from leakage voltages produced between contact rail and earth.
Whenever train is passed through station, there can be some leakage current and
leakage voltage produced between contact rail and earth. This leakage voltage
can effect our system equipment, contact rail equipment or any worker on the
site. In order to protect all these, we use this OVPD device. This device provides
a bypass path for leakage voltage or leakage current to ground, through a Circuit
breaker. PLC controller will issue a signal for opening and closing of this Bypass
circuit breaker.
On the Dc Traction Power Supply System for Urban Railway Transit System , the
rail return current is used to traction current. The rail is not grounded, operating
current and short-circuit current may produce high touch voltage between rail
and the earth, so the rail potential protection device (hereinafter referred to as
the device) is
required, which protect personnel and facilities safety from the dangerous voltage
produced by station building d running on the rail and the vehicle
