A Removal of Existing Warning and Regulatory Signs shall be measured by the number of the various
number of Warning and Regulatory Signs as approved by the Engineer. The rate shall allow for the
removal and transportation of signs to Employer/Authority stores, all materials, labour, tools and
equipment necessary or incidental to the removal of the Warning and Regulatory Signs.

B The Contractor shall not authorize to dispose any removed furniture or materials from site without
Engineer's written permission

C The rate for demolition of buildings shall include for breaking up and carting away ground floor structure
(concrete slab or wood flooring including joists etc.) including foundations.

D The work in this section is also to include for certain below ground structures such as septic tanks and
similar structures which need emptying before demolition and backfilling etc.

E The quantity for underground septic tanks & other similar materials are assumed and may vary in size.

Earthworks

F The quantities of earthworks shall be computed net using dimensions from the Drawings with no
allowance for bulking, shrinkage, waste or working space, the additional width allowance is deemed
included in the rate.

G The rates for excavation are deemed to include upholding sides of excavation, and the removal of
dead services unless measured separately.

H The rates for excavation of material below the "Excavated Surface" and replacement with Backfill
material or Engineered Fill shall include for the disposal of the excavated material to an approved tip site.

J The rate for excavation of artificial hard material is only applicable to the removal of such volumes to
1 m below the Excavated Surface, in volumes exceeding 1 m3. It is also to include for backfilling with
satisfactory Backfill material and removal to tip of the excavated artificial material.

K The rate for Imported Fill material shall include borrow pit excavation, hauling, placement and
compaction in specified layers.

L No separate payment item is included for the preparation of the existing ground in respect of fill areas, all
preparation works such as scarifying, mixing, adding water and compaction and any other works as
required by the Specifications are to be included in items for Filling.
