Personal Narratives Text
I have a brother who stayed at Papua for several years. His name is Ray. He stayed there for
several years. He mentioned that he is very excited to live in Papua after living in Purwokerto for
years. He found several differences between Purwokerto, his hometown, with Papua. People in
Papua and Purwokerto talk using Bahasa yet there are differences in the dialect. One of the
differences that he found was the words they use. They use “kitorang” which has the same
meaning with “kita” in Purwokerto. He also mentioned that he had to obey the customs that were
used in Papua to live peacefully. One of the custom is that everyone should value togetherness in
daily life. The difference of Papua and Purwokerto is on the price of food in which the price is
higher than Purwokerto. Yet, he is currently happy because every time he feels tired, he can just
go to the beach for rest and relax.
