B. Developmental Activities
1. Presentation
The teacher will present a PowerPoint video presentation that
depicts the different interactions among living things in coral reefs
and tropical rainforests.
2. Analysis and Discussion
The teacher will discuss the interaction among living in coral reefs
and tropical rainforest.

1. What is a coral reef?

2. What kinds of living things are found in tropical rainforests?
3. What are the interactions of living things in the coral reefs
and tropical rainforests?

Coral reefs are the most beautiful underwater ecosystems in

the sea. A reef is made by corals, soft bodied cnidarians with
tentacles that secrete chalk-like substances forming cups
that serve as their homes. This is a home to thousands of
animal species like crabs, sea slugs, eels, soft corals,
jellyfishes, shellfishes, and different species of sea stars and
fishes. An example of interaction of living things interacting
with coral reefs is a clown fish hiding on the tentacles of sea
anemones. Coral reefs are often referred to as the
"rainforests of the sea" due to their incredible diversity and
richness.

Tropical rainforests, known as a biotic community in a forest,

are the trees, hardwoods like narra, lauan, molave, and
associated species like abaca, orchids, bamboo, vines,
ferns, and shrubs. Monkeys, fruit bats, snakes, butterflies,
and other insects, spiders, birds, tree frogs, monitor lizards
and many more are found in the forest. Interactions in
forests are those between abiotic and biotic factors.

3. Generalization
3.1. Why is it important to take immediate action to protect and
conserve these valuable habitats?
3.2. What is the significance of protecting and conserving living
organisms found in coral reefs and tropical rainforests?
C. Post-activities
1. Application
The teacher will divide the class into 3 groups and each group will
play where they act out different scenarios related to protecting
coral reefs and rainforests. They can showcase the negative
consequences of pollution or deforestation, as well as propose
solutions like recycling or planting trees.

2. Values Integration
2.1. Why is it important to protect coral reefs?
2.2. Why are rainforests important?
2.3. What can we do to help preserve them?

IV. Evaluation
Activity 1: Matching Type
Direction: Match column A with the corresponding item in column B. Write the
letter of your answer for each number.

1. ____ Seahorse A. Harmful

2. ____ Crabs B. Tropical Rainforest
3. ____ Ferns C. Coral Reef
4. ____ Spiders D. Marine species
5. ____ rainforest of the sea. E. Rainforest species
6. ____ Lungs of the earth. F. Beneficial
7. ____ destruction of coral reefs.
8. ____ biotic community
9. ____ recycling
10. ____ planting trees

V. Assignment
Instructions: Choose an animal or plant you find interesting, conduct research
on its habitat, diet, and unique characteristics. Write it on a short bond paper.
