T-6 and AT-6 FMS Quick Reference Guide

SYSTEM INITIALIZATION

V - Verify Database Coverage / Effectivity, and IAC synchronization


1. STATUS Page. MENU -> INIT REF► (R6)-> ◄IDENT (L1)
I - Initialize Position
1. From IDENT Page, Press POS INIT► (R6)
2. Verify FMS Position. If incorrect, enter position via SPAD
3. Press ◄SETUP (L6). Verify IACs are synchronized (L5).
P - Plan (Setup Flight Plan (if not using the default))
1. From FMS SETUP, Press ROUTE► (R6). (or from NAV or INDEX)
2. Enter ORIGIN and DESTination if not using the default route.
3. Use NEXT to move to ACT ROUTE 1 2/2 and enter TO waypoints (right side),
and VIA airways (left side) as required and press EXEC.

LOADING A DEPARTURE RUNWAY/SID

1. From the NAV page, press DEP/ARR► (R5) (or from the MENU ). If for
ORIGIN airport does not appear, press ◄DEP/ARR (L6).
2. Select ◄DEP (L1) for the ORIGIN airport.
3. Select the desired RUNWAYS to filters the list of available SIDs, if any.
4. Select from the SIDS and select desired TRANSition, as required.
5. Press ROUTE► (R6) then NEXT to verify the procedure, resolve discontinuities,
and press EXEC.

LOADING AN AIRWAY

1. Press ◄ROUTE.
2. Paste the starting waypoint of the airway in the appropriate location in the flight
plan in the TO position.
3. Paste the exit point of the airway in the next TO position, right side.
4. Paste the Airway name in the VIA position, left side, abeam the exit point.
5. Press EXEC.
INTERCEPTING AN AIRWAY

1. Press ◄LEGS.
2. Place the next waypoint of the airway in the active waypoint position (L1).
3. Set the desired INTC CRS (R6).
4. Press EXEC.

DIRECT-TO A WAYPOINT

1. From the NAV or TSD page, press ◄LEGS (L2) (or from the MENU ).
2. Select the waypoint cleared, which copies it to scratchpad. (If not part of the
existing flight plan, the waypoint will have to be entered via SPAD)
3. Insert the waypoint as the active waypoint, resolve discontinuities, and press
EXEC.

LOADING A STAR

1. From the NAV page, press DEP/ARR► (R5) (or from the MENU ).
a. If required, select ARR► for the destination.
2. Select from the available STARS and then select TRANSition.
3. Verify the waypoints, resolve discontinuities, and press EXEC.

LOADING AN APPROACH

1. From the NAV page, press DEP/ARR► (R5) (or from the MENU ).
a. If required, select ARR► for the destination.
2. Select from the authorized APPROACHES and select TRANSition if used.
3. On the DEP/ARR page, select LEGS► (R6) and verify the waypoints, resolve
discontinuities, and press EXEC.
ACTIVATING VECTORS TO FINAL

1. From the NAV or TSD page, press ◄LEGS (L2) (or from the MENU ).
2. Select the approach fix labeled FAF, which copies it to scratchpad.
3. Make the FAF the active waypoint (L1), verify the computed INTC CRS (R6) by
pressing (R6) and press EXEC.

LOADING AN VISUAL APPROACH

1. From the NAV page, press DEP/ARR► (R5) (or from the MENU ).
a. If required, select ARR► for the destination.
2. Select from the runways listed after the approaches.
3. On the DEP/ARR page, select LEGS► (R6) and verify the waypoints, resolve
discontinuities, and press EXEC.
4. For an extended runway centerline, with runway the active waypoint (L1), add
an INTC CRS (R6) and press EXEC.

EXECUTING A MISSED APPROACH (SNAP)

1. Configure aircraft as appropriate.


2. For non-precision approaches, push MISS APP button to sequence FMS to
published procedure.
3. Source: change PFD Source to FMS (if required).
4. NAV Mode - Verifying first fix of the missed approach is what was expected.
5. Altitude - Verify final altitude as depicted on LEGS page (as required).
6. Proceed as directed.
ADDING A NEW HOLD

1. Press MENU then HOLD► (R5).


2. If hold already exists, then press ◄NEW HOLD (L6). A /H will be placed in the
scratchpad.
3. From the LEGS page, select the holding waypoint. If in flight, the option to
HOLD PPOS► will be at (R6). The HOLD page will autofill with the anticipated
time/distance/turn direction/bearing.
4. Verify the holding parameters (TURN DIR, INBD CRS, LEG TIME or LEG DIS)
and change them as necessary.
5. Press EXEC.

EDITING A HOLD

1. Press MENU then HOLD► (R5).


2. Modify the holding parameters (TURN DIR, INBD CRS, LEG TIME, LEG DIS )
and as required.
3. Press EXEC.

USER DEFINED WAYPOINT CONVENTIONS

• Radial-DME placebearing/range ICT090/035


• Crossing radials placebearing/placebearing ICT090/BURDN045
• Before a point* place/distance INDIC/-12
• After a point* place/distance INDIC/25
• Must input along route points AT PLACE on FMS regardless of before or after. The FMS will
generate a new name (e.g. IND01) for the point in the right sequence.
• Overfly place/O (or /O) RWY19R/O
• Hold place/H (or /H) 046M/H
• Cancel hold or overfly /
• Lat/Long latlong (ie oceanic flightplan) 5740N (same format)
