INMARSAT-C JUE-87 Common Use type Option Operation Guide

1. Screen Display
When common use connection of Remote Distress Button, Security Button and/or Distress Message
Controller is setup, Button Test Mode of the another JUE-87 is displayed on the upper right of a main
screen.
(1) Connect
It is correctly connected between JUE-87 terminals. And it can be communicating.
Another JUE-87 is not Button Test Mode.

(2) Disconnect
The power supply of another JUE-87 is OFF.

(3) DB Test Mode


It is correctly connected between JUE-87 terminals. And it can be communicating.
Another INM-C is Distress Button Test Mode.

(4) SB Test Mode


It is correctly connected between JUE-87 terminals. And it can be communicating.
Another JUE-87 is Security Button Test Mode.

2. Restriction of operation when using common use type option


If two JUE-87 terminals differ in Test Mode, Remote Distress Button, Security Button and Distress
Message Controller of common use connection is operated as shown in the following Table-1.
Please check Button Test Mode of another JUE-87 by the display of a main screen, and make the state of
a terminal the same.

3. Button Test
(1) Distress Button Test
Checking cable connections of distress button uses the test function for Distress button from normal
mode. The Distress button test can be demonstrated the procedure of a distress alert transmission even if
the JUE-87 is not synchronized to satellite.

NOTE
In order to prevent miss-transmission of Distress Alert, please be sure to check that a terminal is Distress Button
Test Mode. Especially when you use common RDB, please be sure to check that both of terminals are Distress
Button Test Mode.

Step Operation IME/DTE Response


1 • Hold down Alt key and press A key on • “Diagnostics” window is displayed.

• “Distress Button Test” window is displayed.

Now distress button testing---
If real distress alert to be sent,
cancel the test mode.

5 • (Start the distress test) • The buzzer in DTE and IME are sounding 5 sec
continuously.
• The “DISTRESS” lamp on IME is illuminating 5
sec.

• When the distress button is tested completely, the


following window is displayed.

Distress button test succeeded.
If real distress alert to be sent,
cancel the test mode.

(2) Security Button Test


Checking cable connections of security button uses the test function for Security button from normal
mode. The Security button test can be demonstrated the procedure of a security alert transmission even if
the JUE-87 is not synchronized to satellite.

NOTE
In order to prevent miss-transmission of Security Alert, please be sure to check that a terminal is Security Button
Test Mode. Especially when you use common SB, please be sure to check that both of terminals are Security
Button Test Mode.

(3)DMC Distress Button Test


Checking cable connections of DMC uses the test function for Distress button from normal mode.
The DMC test can be demonstrated the procedure of a distress alert transmission even if the JUE-87 is
not synchronized to satellite. In this test mode, any signals are not transmitted.

NOTE
In order to prevent miss-transmission of Distress Alert, please be sure to check that a terminal is Distress Button Test
Mode. Especially when you use common DMC please be sure to check that both of terminals are Distress Button Test
Mode.

Step Operations IME/DTE/DMC (example)
