Learning Competency/ies Describes the musical elements of selected vocal and instrumental
music of Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque Music
Key Understanding to be Developed Vocal and instrumental music of medieval period has 2 types the
Gregorian chant and Troubadour music.
Gregorian chant has monophonic texture, Free meter, Modal,
usually based on Latin liturgy, and uses Neume notation; while
Troubadour music is also monophonic in texture, sometimes with
improvise accompaniment, tell as of chivalry and courtly love,
originated in France, and was written in French language.
