Learning Competency/ies Describes the musical elements of selected vocal and instrumental
music of Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque Music
Key Understanding to be Developed  Vocal and instrumental music of medieval period has 2 types the
Gregorian chant and Troubadour music.
 Gregorian chant has monophonic texture, Free meter, Modal,
usually based on Latin liturgy, and uses Neume notation; while
Troubadour music is also monophonic in texture, sometimes with
improvise accompaniment, tell as of chivalry and courtly love,
originated in France, and was written in French language.
OBJECTIVES

Introductory Activity SETTING THE MOOD: Review of the basic elements of music.
