SUBJECT AREA: Science

OBJECTIVES: Students will learn how to group objects based off of texture, strength, color, and
hardness. .
DESCRIPTION:
The students will start by picking which property they want to sort first. They will then
write down on the paper what object they put with what property. There will be different colors of
straws and papers. There will also be different thickness of papers. The students will repeat this
with all properties. They will then answer the questions at the end.
QUESTIONS:
● Why do you think that different types of rocks have different textures?
● Which was the easiest to sort and why?
● Which was the hardest to sort and why?
MANIPULATIVE MATERIALS:
● Pinecones
● Rocks
● Straws
● Sheet of white paper
● Sheets of color paper
WRITING MATERIALS:
● Pencil
● Paper
● Colored Pencils
