I.RATIONALE
The repeated use of artificial insecticides to control mosquitoes can result in resistance
issues, and the use of bio-insecticides might have limitation in practical field applications. The
study exmined the combination use of an oregano Essential oil (EO) rich in carvacrol with two
common insecticides, diflubenzuron and Bcillus thuringiensis isrdelensis (B.t.i), in road drin in
Crevlcore City,Italy, against Culex pipiens and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes. An alternative
approach that has shown promise in lab test in the use of ixtures of botanicals with traditional
synthetic or bio-insecticides s eco-friendly mosquito larvicides.

II.RESEARCH QUESTIONS
MAIN PROBLEM:
Is Oregano plant effective as a mosquito repellent?
SPECIFIC PROBLEM:
1.What are the characteristics of oregano plant as mosquito repellent in terms of:
a. texture
b. color
c. smell
2.Is there a significant difference between the oregano plant s a mosquito repellent and
commercial available mosquito repellent in terms of:
a. texture
b. color
c. smell
OBJECTIVES
I. To determine the repellent properties of oregano plant against mosquitoes.
II. To compare the effectiveness of oregano plant as mosquito repellent in other natural
mosquito repellent.
III. To assess the duration of the repellent effect of oregano plant.
III. HYPOTHESES
H1
There will be significant difference in the effectiveness of oregano plant as a mosquito repellent
compared to the commercially available in terms of:
a. texture
b. color
c. smell
H0
There will be no significant difference in the effectiveness of oregano plant as a mosquito
repellent compared to the commercially available in terms of:
a. texture
b. color
c. smell
IV. EXPECTED OUTCOMES
Some expected outcomes are that the Oregano plant will be more effective than the
commercially available mosquito repellent considering the texture, color, and smell. Oregano
plant are anticipated to exhibit enhanced environmental sustainability, showing greater
biodegradability and reduce environmental to their life cycle.
V.METHODOLOGY
One study found that a larvicide solution made from oregano was not effective killing mosquitos
larvae. However another study found that lemon grass is more effective than the oregano
alternative in mosquito repellent.
VI.RESEARCH DESIGN
The Solomon four group will be employed in this study to understand more about the topic.
