enter our organizations, and these new behaviors and technologies are fueled by consumer web and

According to Kevine Courtney (2022), technology advancement has fueled many changes in how we
work, team members can connect with each other with the use of Smartphone and Social Network.
Kevine pointed out six ways in which the work of work has changed in the past 20years. These are:

 Smart Tech, Typewriters, Rolodexes and other clunky machinery were used years back
therefore making the offices stuffy but the coming of smartphones brought in an era of
multitasking tech gadgets that could perform many office tasks such as emailing, copying,
strong files, making phone calls and even pumping out the office muzak. Also, these
technologies have increased the companies output and sales as they now use social media
platforms to advertise and sell their products online. Technology also helps the team
members to interact and communicate easily without moving from one place to another
(Kevin Courtney, Thu Mar 24 2022).

 Wellbeing|Mental health, Kevine also said that before staff couldn’t confide in their bosses
that they were feeling a bit stressed because they can get fired but today, company owners
paid more attention on the wellbeing and mental health of the staffs. They provide medical
insurance to their workers and they allow them to have tea break and other resting period to
allow them refresh their brain in order not to be stress out (Kevin Courtney, Thu Mar 24
2022).

 Flexible working, Technology has help to encourage flexible and Hybrid working as the
company owners now understand that workers spent more time in work when left to work at
their comfort than when forced to work only in the offices, and when the employees are
given the chance to work in shifts. This has a greater increase in productivity and output
(Kevin Courtney, Thu Mar 24 2022).

 Workplace Layout, Kevine also mentions that offices use to be in cubicle and the workers
were encouraged to work independently but this has changed as is more of open office
layout and the workers are allow to interact making the atmosphere relaxed and collegiate.
The coming of technology helps the company owner to remove the idea of every employee
owning a fixed desk in a fixed position, staffs being able to work online can log in their
information on any laptop or computer (Kevin Courtney, Thu Mar 24 2022).

 Diversity, Workforces are accepted from different races, religions, cultures and from
different age groups. Stricter enforcement of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 also help to bring
about workplace diversity (Roy Tran, February 27, 2023).

 Women in Business, In the early days, women are employed mostly as secretaries and they
are not allowed to get marry as they might lose their jobs. The salary gap between the men
the women is far different as the men has higher salary than women. But times have
changed as some women are CEO and some own higher positions in their Companies than
the men with good salaries (Kevin Courtney, Thu Mar 24 2022).

Roy Tran (2023) also mentioned that “ the growth of the feminist movement throughout this decade
raised the pressure on businesses to provide women with equal changes in the workplace”

the past 20years. These includes:

 External influence: Organization can adapt to changes from external environment in order to
stay in competition.
 Competitive pressure: Due to the intense competition within the industry, organization can
implement changes in their strategies, processes or products in order to gain a competitive
advantage.
 Organizational growth or decline: Growth or decline on organization causes it to accept
changes to promote increased scale or restructure and optimize operations during decline
period.
 Technological advancement: This rapid advancement in technology causes organization to
accept changes as they have to adopt new technologies, upgrade systems or automate
processes in order to increase efficiency, productivity and competitiveness.
 Merger and Acquisitions: Organization changes when they undergo merger, acquisitions or
partnership in order to integrate operations, align cultures, streamline processes and realise
synergies.
 Internal inefficiencies or performance gaps: When organizations realize there is a gap in their
efficiencies and performance, they are bound to change in order to improve the
performance, productivity and operational effectiveness.
 Leadership and strategic shifts: As organizations align with the new vision, goals or strategic
objectives, the leaderships need to change to adapt to new strategic direction or shifts.

All these above aspects have contributed greatly to the changes in the workplace for over the years

Satisfied employees are an enormous asset to your organization (Simplilearn, Last updated
on Sep 1, 2023). This is because when employee’s welfare and satisfaction are prioritized,
the employees become very happy and satisfied, this will Reduced Turnover. According to
Simplilearn, happy employees stay put. High Turnover can be nightmare for employers due
to the time and money investment involved in re-hiring and re-training qualified talent

Also, employee satisfaction leads to higher productivity. Satisfied employee feel more
invested to the company’s success and therefore work harder to help achieve it.
Satisfied employees also become Brand Ambassadors in the company. When people are
happy about something, they talk about it and by so doing, they help to tell people about
your brand and making you an employer of choice (Simplilearn, Last updated on Sep 1,
2023).
Satisfied employees give better Customers service, they are happier people in general and
the represent the company with pride, leading to gratified customers (Simplilearn, Last
updated on Sep 1, 2023).
