INTRODUCTION
THEORY OF PRACTICAL
Setting out is the process of assessing the locations and levels of buildings, roads, and other
structures. The information is extracted from construction design plans and then pegs, profiles
and other markers are placed to control the operation and ensure that each element is properly
installed in the correct position.
DEFINITION
SETTING OUT:
Setting out is the process of assessing the locations and levels of buildings, roads, and other structures.
AIM OF PROJECT
The aim of the project is to transmit a building plan onto the allocated piece of land by physically
putting pegs into the ground by setting up the total station at a given set-up station or benchmark
(In the case of this report MHU2 is used as the set-up station). From this point, all the other points
of the building are set out.
METHODS
The instrument was set up on the set-up station which was MHU2.
Set the instrument for orientation to the MHU3 with the computed direction
Verify the orientation accuracy by using the direction calculated in MHU1.
With the use of Pythagoras theorem to calculate the distances and the angles for every
point that has been set up to, as indicated in the illustration.
A peg is installed on the determination point, the same procedure is repeated for each and
every point.

CONCLUSION
Orientation and checks were computed at the beginning of the practical work to ensure accuracy
and precision measures. Joints and directions were calculated for each poin ,as well as the
distances of the point as they have to accurate with the ones proposed by the learner guide
.Checks were done for insurance, if they were any errors . Each task must be completed.
conducted independently for each location and degree of precision required. In conclusion the
approach of setting out method is not used able to obtain a high degree of resolution but also helps
the erection work done.
