TITLE

Causes associated with solid waste management in mine Area Township of

chililabombwe district.

PAGE 1.0
INTRODUCTION

The management of waste has been a difficult and challenging issue in Mine
Area Township over the years. Poor waste management causes diseases such as
cholera, dysentery and pollution, as well as water, air, soil and land
contamination, proliferation of pests and vermin and the loss of aesthetic
beauty. In this regard, it is clear that solid waste disposal is a factor that
contributes to the problem of environment degradation. Solid waste is the
dumped waste that affects the environment in several ways that can have
adverse impacts on the environment. Disposing of solid waste is important in
that if taken in consideration, it can prevent environment degradation.
However, if not disposed in a good manner, solid waste results in environment
hazardous parts of the environment .This field study was therefore carried out
in order to access the link between solid waste disposal and environment
degradation in Mine Area Township of chililabombwe.
