Chapter III

RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY

This chapter reveals the methods of research employed by the researcher in

conducting the study, which includes the research design, research locale, research

instrument, data gathering, sampling design, respondents of the study, scoring of the

variable and statistical treatment.

Research Design

The researcher used a quantitative approach in gathering information about

present conditions. According to Fleetwood (2020), quantitative research is defined as a

systematic investigation of phenomena by gathering quantifiable data and performing

statistical, mathematical, or computational techniques. Quantitative research collects

information from existing and potential customers using sampling methods and sending

out online surveys, online polls, questionnaires, etc., the results of which can be depicted

in the form of numerical.

Quantitative research approach comprises strategies and methods for research that

extend the decisions from general assumptions to thorough methods of data gathering and

reasoning.

Research Instrument

The survey questionnaire was used in gathering the needed data. This

questionnaire was composed of two parts: Part I covered the socio demographic profiles

of the respondents such as age and grade level of the students and the number of hours of
working of the students. Part II covered the effects of being a working among selected

senior high school students in colegio de la purisima Concepcion.

Data Gathering

The data gathering was done by distributing survey forms. The survey form was

given to each of the selected senior high school working students in Colegio de la

Purisima Concepcion. The researcher clarified some terms for the respondents so that

they could answer the questionnaire with full knowledge and be assured of the

confidentiality of their responses. After the respondents answered the survey form, the

information and data were analyzed, collected, and tallied by the researcher for

interpretation. The results will now be the basis for the conclusion and further revision of

this study. The researcher obtained formal written permission that was checked by the

research adviser of Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion. The written letter was presented

to respondents asking for permission to collect and uphold their information

confidentially.

Respondents of the Study

The respondents of the study were 10 selected working students of Colegio de la

Purisima Concepcion; all of them were senior high school students, with an age range of

17 years old below to 18 years old above. The selected respondents were presumed to

have been affected by being working undergraduates.

Scoring of the Variable

The scoring of the variable on the perception of the respondents toward the effects

of being a working student among selected senior high school students in colegio de la

purisima concepcion.

Verbal Interpretation
